🔥 Hot off the press 📰! 🔥 Mission Therapeutics and peers have published a paper in Nature Reviews Drug Discovery examining the role of dysfunctional mitochondria in causing #neurodegenerative diseases. The review paper, Targeting mitophagy in neurodegenerative diseases, also discusses our deepening understanding of the #mitophagy process - which cells use to remove defective mitochondria – and outlines the development of two molecular approaches (USP30 inhibition and PINK1 activation) to boosting #mitophagy, which are now being tested in early-stage clinical trials.
