The Defence Suppliers Forum (DSF) exists to identify and action areas of improvement between the UK Ministry of Defence and UK industry. Leveraging our relationships, insight and experience across the civil and defence sectors, we facilitated a workshop for the Defence Suppliers Forum at Heathrow Airport to share the latest thinking across #airports, #airlines and industry bodies. As a result plans of action to further enhance the delivery of sustainable aviation fuel; alternative energy solutions at airbases and enhancing operational efficiency. "There are many more parallels between defence and civil aviation sectors than we often realise, especially in terms of #sustainability and #resilience. Working closer together provides fantastic opportunities to share ideas and to collaborate on resolving common challenges". Air Vice Marshal Harris, Defence Supplier Forum Sustainability Chair We were delighted that Paul Harrison, our defence key account lead for Europe formerly signed the Defence Aviation Net Zero Charter at the session. The Charter commits signatories to reducing the climate impact of aviation activity vital to national security. With thanks to all Forum participants Royal Air Force (RAF), Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), Ministry of Defence, Thales, Jacobs, Serco, Rolls-Royce, Airbus, BAE Systems, The University of Sheffield, GKN Aerospace, Leonardo, Reaction Engines and Heathrow for kindly hosting the session. https://mottm.ac/4i2dR51

Digital technology is rapidly evolving, and to unlock the true value we need to understand how best to integrate and deploy solutions that enable responsible use, keep people at the core and foster innovation. But how can this be achieved? Maria Mingallon, our knowledge and information manager for Asia Pacific, New Zealand and Australia, is a leading voice in AI. She is committed to collaborating with peers and industry to shape the future of AI governance and ethics. This is demonstrated through her involvement on the ISO - International Organization for Standardization Artificial Intelligence committee, where she represents New Zealand's interests in international standards development, and the Executive Council of the AI Forum NZ, responsible for bringing together New Zealand’s AI community to enable a prosperous, inclusive and equitable future. Maria presented at the recent ACE NZ #FutureSpace2024. As part of her presentation ‘From code to culture: a people-centric approach to AI’, she explored the economic potential of AI adoption and key pillars any organisation needs to consider as part of their adoption strategy. Take a look at her key takeaways 👇 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gGUc2_uS

We recently hosted a unique client workshop where we brought together #innovation leaders in infrastructure for a unique kind of challenge, centred around the innovation management standard ISO 56002:2019. In this New Civil Engineer article, Anni Huovinen, our senior strategic advisory consultant explains how teams examined the impact of their investment decisions on an organisation's ability to develop new ideas, build resilience, realise value, and progress ideas at pace. Overall, they explored how to build a balanced innovation management system. Read on to discover the insights our clients gained about innovation and the discussions that they had to bring about transformational change. 🔽 https://mottm.ac/4fZ1CEN

Using energy digital twins could be key to reducing costs and carbon for both new and existing buildings. Santiago G. Velez, our net zero digital delivery lead explains in his article for Construction Management magazine. It may sound like an impossible task to improve #energy efficiency across a large hospital estate with the challenge, time and effort involved, but taking a digital approach could be the answer. Digital twins are virtual replicas of physical systems, processes or products that allow for real-time monitoring, simulation and optimisation. By creating a #digital counterpart, engineers can predict performance, identify potential issues and optimise operations without physical intervention.
