At MSD, we’re constantly on the look out to support ways to make cancer care more efficient. This starts with listening to the clinicians. Our MSD oncology experts have teamed up with Professor Neal Navani, as well as lung cancer clinicians from across Europe and the health technology company, Axana, to develop solutions to improve the efficiency of multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings. Through the NextGenMDT programme our ambition is to offer clinicians the time and information they need to improve the patient pathway. Because time is of the essence when treating cancer. In early December, MSD is taking the #RacetoElimination to Scotland, through a Scottish Parliament event, hosted by Sue Webber MSP and featuring a contribution from The Eve Appeal, to celebrate Scotland’s progress towards cervical cancer elimination. In our Holyrood Communications article endorsed by The Eve Appeal and Sue Webber MSP, Stuart Robertson reflects on the foundations for elimination in Scotland, and what needs to happen next – including ensuring no community is left behind on the road to elimination. Congratulations Sadhbh O Leary MPSI! A fantastic achievement! Thank you for taking part in #REDRUNLDN alongside your MSD colleagues and the HIV community in recognition of #WorldAIDSDay. #TakeActionLaceUp 🏃
It was great to take part in the annual Red Run in Victoria park with MSD in the UK on Saturday. This was personally a huge achievement for me as I made a New Year’s resolution to run a 10k by the end of the year, and was delighted to accomplish this goal! It was amazing to see so many people out running in honour of World AIDS day, supporting an initiative that brings together HIV charities that raise awareness and funds for HIV support and prevention projects. Thank you to all the supporters who cheered us on despite Storm Bert and for Positive East for organising a wonderful event. 🏃♀️💪 #MSDEmployee #WorldAIDSDay #RedRun

Fantastic effort from Amelie Leve and all the other wonderful colleagues who braved the elements to take part in #REDRUNLDN and mark #WorldAIDSDay alongside members of the HIV Community. #TakeActionLaceUp 🏃

On Saturday, despite the rain and windy weather, I ran my first 10k with some of my amazing colleagues at MSD in support of World AIDS Day. MSD in the UK is a proud sponsor of the World AIDS Day RED RUN, an important initiative that brings together HIV charities to raise awareness and vital funds for HIV support and prevention projects. Thank you to Positive East for organising such a great event, and continuing to make a real difference to support lives of people living with HIV. #WorldAIDSDay #REDRUNLDN #MSDEmployee

It was great to attend Jefferies & London Life Science Week events over the last few days. As part of this I wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate our colleagues from EyeBio winning the Best Emerging Biotech Company award at the OBN Awards dinner, which is a huge testament to the passion, commitment, and scientific achievement of the team in the field of ophthalmology. In addition, the joint MSD-Eyebio team won the award for best M&A Transaction of the Year at the LSX European Lifestars Awards, as voted for by a panel of 60+ judges. Congratulations to both teams! #LLSW hashtag #MSDemployee hashtag #lifestarsawards hashtag #OBNAwards2024

It was great for MSD to have a substantial presence this week in London at Life Science Week and Jefferies conference, including the European BD team and members of our senior leadership. London became a hotspot for innovation this week with entrepreneurs, biotech and pharma companies as well as global investors mingling in the city. Some have called Jefferies ‘the JP Morgan of Europe’ and as a Londoner I am proud this event is on our doorstep and also bodes very well for the European biotech scene. One highlight for MSD was recognition of Eyebio, a truly innovative ophthalmology company created by SVLS which we acquired this year, winning two awards - at the European Lifestars Awards and the #OBN Awards - as M&A Deal of the Year and Best Emerging Biotech Company of the Year, respectively. #JefferiesHealthcare #LLSW #MSDemployee

I was delighted to take part in the New Statesman’s #FutureOfHealthcare conference where we discussed the pressing issue of health inequalities. While the NHS has made a tremendous amount of progress in addressing health inequalities there is much more that needs to be done, particularly regarding cancer wait times, and there is a clear role for industry to play to support. Want to learn more about how we can improve cancer wait times and make healthcare more equitable? Check out my latest blog post!

Having a hand in tackling complex health challenges on the other side of the world is a unique opportunity and three of our UK colleagues did just that! 👏 Huge congratulations to Karen M., Monir Ahmed and Holly Fry who recently completed their fellowships as part of our company's Richard T. Clark (RTC) Global Health Programme. This three-month, corporate pro bono programme allows our fellows to use their skills and talents to help make a difference in the lives of others and engage in important projects that contribute to our focus on expanding access to health. Employees are paired with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) leveraging their collective skills to build capacity and aim to positively impact the communities the NGOs partner with. Karen, Monir and Holly found the experience an exceptional opportunity in their careers. Travelling to India and the Philippines meant they could see first-hand the challenges being faced. Working with communities, they helped implement programmes to increase awareness around diseases, the need for screening and early diagnosis, as well as understanding treatment pathways. The ultimate goal for these programmes is to help drive better outcomes for cancer patients. This activity is a huge part of our shared mission to save and improve lives, a chance to give back, whilst helping our employees build their skills. "The experience of working directly with the local community in the Philippines was immensely fulfilling, and it left a profound impact on me both personally and professionally” “It was an amazing experience and personally I got a lot out of it through development and understanding my hidden strengths.” #WeAreMSD #Volunteering #GivingBack
