New Classroom Block at Henry Moore Primary School! We're delighted to announce the completion of this classroom replacement project at Henry Moore Primary School. The previous demountable building, which was second hand and around 30-40 years old, had deteriorated significantly with leaking roofs, damp walls, and unsafe access ramps. The previous demountable building caused disruptions to student learning, as children had to walk from the furthest classroom all the way back to the main school building to access the hall, IT suite, or studio. Furthermore, the poor weather conditions and lack of proper heating made the demountable an unsuitable learning environment. The wet weather created slip hazards, and the absence of heating resulted in a cold and uncomfortable space for the students. Munday + Cramer prepared and submitted a successful CIF bid to secure funding for this urgent replacement. They then managed the project from start to finish, delivering five generously-sized, modern classrooms that provide the perfect environment for teaching and learning. The new 5 classrooms are connected to the main school building, allowing students to access the classrooms through internal corridors. Following on from phase 1 of this VASCA funding project at a local primary school, phase 2 is now under way! The existing staircase leading to the KS2 block is too narrow for students to safely use hence it was also increasing the travel time for students to get to lesson. To address the safety concerns, VASCA funding was obtained by M+C to double the width of both the existing stairs and pathway that leads into the KS2 block. This expansion will allow students to enter and exit the school more safely and efficiently, improving the traffic flow. M+C previously completed Phase 1 of this project, which involved installing new security fencing around the school perimeter and replacing all outdated fencing sections. As part of this VASCA safeguarding project at a local primary school, phase 1 has now been successfully completed; the installation of new security fencing to address ongoing security concerns. The school had been experiencing repeated break-ins where intruders were stealing lightning conductors, damaging storage containers, and leaving offensive graffiti behind. These incidents were compromising student safety and the graffiti could damage the school's reputation, particularly if it was seen by visitors or in the local press. We specified and procured 2m high security fencing which has been installed alongside the existing boundary, whilst also replacing all compromised sections. Additionally, a new 1.5m internal fence has been installed to prevent students accessing the pond area and to separate pedestrian paths from vehicle routes to the car park.
