  • Ramadan is approaching, and with it, the night prayer. The Sahabah (may Allah be pleased with them) would prepare sixth months in advance for this special time. One of the ways we can prepare is standing the night in prayer now, and getting ourselves used to it. So that when it comes to Ramadan it is easier to perform. It is important to remember that the amount of the Qur'an memorised doesn't affect how long you can pray in the night for. Read below to learn more.

  • November marks Islamophobia Awareness Month, a time to understand and educate others about what Islamophobia is and why it’s essential to address it. Islamophobia simply put, is prejudice or discrimination against Muslims and Islam. It often comes about from misunderstandings, misinformation, and the actions of certain individuals who don't represent the faith's true teachings. These misconceptions can lead to fear, hate, and exclusion. What can we do about it? As Muslims, we have a unique role in countering Islamophobia by embodying the values of our faith. Welcoming others through kindness is one of the most effective forms of da’wah, showing the true essence of Islam through our character. For those who don’t identify as Muslims, we as the Muslim Apprentice Community encourage you to reach out and ask questions. Understanding is a powerful tool in breaking down barriers, and we’re more than happy to help address any curiosities or misconceptions.

  • LinkedIn, it’s time to lock in. The clocks have gone back, providing Muslims with a golden opportunity: short days and long nights. Hasan al Basri, may Allah have mercy on him, said ‘Winter is the best season for the believer. Its nights are long for him to pray in, and its days are short for him to fast in.’ We present to you the ‘Spiritual Arc’ with the hopes of bettering oneself in this season. 📈 Ramadan is starting to creep around the corner. It is the perfect time to increase in voluntary fasts and the night prayer. Most importantly, make sure your intention is sincere!

Reminders, Reflection and Relaxation! Our sisters at MAC gathered at the IFS Cloud Cable Car yesterday for our annual Sisters Icebreaker Event. As always, we began with the words of Allah – the first ten ayats of Surah Yunus, pairing with a reminder to ponder upon the signs of Allah سبحانه وتعالى. Reflecting upon His signs is a neglected act of worship – it was very fitting for the day being 90m above the River Thames with views of the sky and the river, feeling awe of Allah سبحانه ‎.وتعالى We had competitive games of human bingo, Islamic trivia and chaotic Uno No Mercy with a record-breaking +68 stack! Amongst the competitive chaos, there was a serene table of sisters making bracelets, anklets and keyrings. It was a beautiful gathering - Jazākumullāhu khairan to everyone who attended 💕 If you are a current or incoming Muslim apprentice, join our community for similar events: https://lnkd.in/er6bkPn3 #apprentice #muslim #apprenticeships

  • As practicing Muslim professionals, balancing our religious identity with workplace expectations can be a delicate matter. Here are some tips to help you navigate this journey: 🧕🏽 Be yourself Don't hide your beliefs and principles, be proud of them. Being open about our Islāmic values can inspire others to adopt great mannerisms and practices. 🤝 Educate Your Colleagues Use opportunities to educate your coworkers about Islām. A simple explanation about the significance of Ramadhān or the reasons behind the 5 daily prayers will create understanding and respect. 📅 Plan Ahead Whilst preparing for religious occasions like Ramadhān or the days of Dhul Hijjah, communicate your plans well in advance. This helps others to understand your commitments and allows for supportive arrangements. Narrated by Anas bin Malik رضي الله عنه: The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "There will come upon the people a time wherein the one who is patient upon his deen will be like one clasping onto live coal” [Jāmi’ at-Tirmidhī 2260] It is crucial that we uphold all of our values wherever we are, not just inside the home. May Allāh allow us all to recognise Him and hold onto His deen wherever we are.

  • Being able to work from home is one of the many blessings from Allah that is often overlooked. Working from home has many Islāmic benefits that we should take advantage of: 🚪We are able to protect ourselves from external fitan by protecting our gazes and limiting cross gender interaction. 🏠 We can be in the service of our parents and families, helping with chores, shopping, pick-ups etc. 📖 We can read the Qur'an with true focus and concentration rather than on the go. We also have the flexibility to comfortably listen to the Qur'an or lectures from the comfort of our homes. 🕌 We can frequent our local mosques for Salah and pray in congregation. 💰 We save money on the extra spending on eating out and coffees that can be used in other righteous avenues It can be all too easy to become lazy when working from home but remembering our purpose in this life will enable us to make the most out of our day, inshā’Allāh.

  • When starting work in the corporate space, it is common to be invited out to drinks. As Muslims, we shouldn’t drink alcohol, or be in the vicinity where it is consumed. ❎️ So what is the best way to decline? Be straighforward but polite. Explain that you are a Muslim and that you do not like being near alcohol. ☕️ If you fear that you will miss out on networking, this can be done in the office by grabbing a coffee, or putting time in the diary for a chat. 🕋 Many firms also have their own Muslim networks, which organise events that cater for Muslim professionals, so look to attend those when they arise… if your firm doesn’t have one, why not invest in your legacy and build one! It may feel hard at times declining invites, as if you're the odd one out. When this feeling comes, know that something great lies in your path 🎊 Abu Qatadah رضي الله عنه reported that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Verily, you will never leave anything for the sake of Allah Almighty but that Allah will replace it with something better for you.” [Musnad Aḥmad 23074] And there is no doubt in what he says, صل الله عليه وسلم.

  • 📌 How can we establish Salāh (prayer) in the workplace? 🥇Salāh is the second pillar of Islam, and the most important act of worship a Muslim can perform. 👥 Our members frequently ask us how to establish a regular praying routine within in the workplace. ➡️ Here are simple steps you can take to fulfill your obligations: For Incoming Muslim Employees: - Be sure to search for Masājid local to your place of work. - When you join, letting the relevant people know of prayer will help establish a routine for yourself 📶 For Current Muslim Employees: - Currently don’t have a prayer/ablution facility? Ask for one! - Companies are becoming more aware of the need for a prayer and ablution facilities for Muslim Employees, so work together with Muslim colleagues to achieve this. If the need is conveyed effectively, your company will accommodate! 🤝 - Hybrid work is a great balance! Try to work from home on Friday to facilitate for the Jumu’ah prayer. - Where possible during breaks and around working hours, brothers should exert effort to attend congregational prayers at the masjid. - Brotherhood, unity, equality and prioritising Allah س بحانھ وتعال are key aspects of our prayer - so try make the effort with a sincere intention! 🏢 For Employers: - Try to understand the importance of prayer to your Muslim employees, which is second to none. - Establishing prayer at fixed times during the day is a necessity, without which Muslims cannot thrive. - Prayer will give them structure, purpose, focus, a peaceful heart and a driven mind. - Undoubtedly, it will bring them innumerable personal benefits, as well as boost their working productivity, reaping great rewards from an investment of only a few minutes. 📍If you’re an incoming or current Muslim apprentice, and want to benefit from networking, fun halal events and spiritual benefit, please click the link below to join: https://lnkd.in/deNwujqw

What's the halal way to invest? 💰 What is Sukuk? Equity? Funds? Bonds? The questions of our brothers and sisters were answered at our recent fundamentals of financial literacy event in partnership with Nisba and Norton Rose Fulbright’s Compass network. Norton Rose Fullbright opened their doors to the brothers and sisters of our community to host an evening of financial knowledge, Islamic reminders, networking and food, all whilst adhering to our Islamic principles and boundaries. By the blessings of Allah we've had an excellent response from both sides, walking away with new found knowledge on how to make the most of their wealth. We hope the brothers and sisters enjoyed the event, and we hope to see more new faces in future events. Its been a great success, but we're not stopping here - we've got more events planned for the future and hope to build on this event. Civil Engineering Degree Apprentice @WSP

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the Islamic Financial Literacy event at the Norton Rose Fulbright Office, hosted by Muslim Apprentice Community (MAC) and delivered by Nisba. This was my first apprentice event but Alhamdulillah, it was amazing to meet so many Muslim girls that are apprentices. It just makes me feel even more excited to start my role next week! I learnt a lot about how to invest in a Halal manner, how to manage my finances accordingly and was reminded to be grateful for everything we have been provided on Earth. We delved into equities, bonds, Sukuk and savings accounts, all of which I found extremely interesting. A huge thanks to @Sharmin B for organising the event for us, and in sha Allah many more to come!
