A busy three days at Tesco Golden Hill and Thornbury brought in over 210 crates of food. Each tin, packet and bottle will help restock our shelves at a crucial time. Thanks to everyone who donated and to our volunteers who handled the heavy lifting.

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Our recent pre-Christmas stocktake picked up pace when Kier Transportation team joined us in the warehouse. They dove into the physical work of weighing and moving stock, bringing welcome energy to our annual count. As we gear up for our busiest season, this kind of hands-on support makes a real difference. Thank you, Kier, for being such engaged partners.
Our Transportation Senior Leadership Team, alongside colleagues from across the business recently headed to one of Bristol’s key Trussell Trust foodbank locations to get stuck into some volunteering… For just over a year, Trussell have been our charity partner, and the work they do is vital – so as well as already raising over £125,000 together, we also try to lend a few hands where possible. 💚🤝 Did you know that the run up to Christmas is one of the busiest times of year for a foodbank? It’s why support during the annual stocktake is so valuable, as our team found when they turned their hand away from the day-job of managing our projects and contracts, to shifting, weighing, and packing items that could soon be a lifeline for whoever receives the food parcel. All Kier colleagues get two days a year to volunteer for causes that matter to them – and as Mandy, our managing director for rail and aviation says: “It’s a great day… It’s really good energy, and good spirit too”. Trussell Trust has changed its name to Trussell and is launching a new brand look today. It's clear, direct, and friendly. Over the coming weeks we'll be progressively adopting elements of this branding in our communications.
We need urgent action on hunger in the UK. People are turning to food banks because they don’t have enough money to live on. 💚 But we know that we can end hunger together. And that’s why we look a little different now. We’ve been working with food banks and people with experience of hardship to build a more accessible brand, to make sure everyone seeking support can get the help they need.
