  • Did you know that GMTS has no ‘time since graduating’ limit?   We’re interested in your passion and potential to become a future NHS non-clinical leader. Not the date on your graduation certificate.   Maybe you started your grad job a few years ago, but now want to find a more meaningful career?   Or you’ve been in the workplace for years and finally feel like you have the confidence to take the next step into a leadership role?   We asked Sophie, an HR trainee, to explain why she changed career to join GMTS. She explains her motivation for applying – and offers advice to anyone wondering if they should do so this year:     What was your motivation for applying to GMTS Sophie?   “I’d worked in a few different roles after leaving university and never really found the right ‘fit’ for me. I enjoyed the work I did but I didn’t find anywhere I could really see myself staying and progressing over a long period of time.   I’d always been interested in HR and loved the idea of working in healthcare. I also believed that the ethos of the NHS fits in with my own personal values so I knew it was somewhere I could really see myself building a career.   I actually stumbled across the application page purely by chance and thought it meshed my two interests perfectly, so I applied there and then.”     What do you think people should know before applying – now you’re a trainee?   “It’s not just for what you may think are ‘typical’ grads! – in that there is such a diverse range of people on the Scheme, some of whom like me graduated several years ago and haven’t been in education for some time. Some have had careers in other sectors before applying; some are former nurses!   So please don’t put yourself off applying because you aren’t fresh out of university – I almost did because I thought ‘they don’t want an almost 30-year-old parent on the Scheme’ and I was incredibly wrong. It’s been a great opportunity for me and I’m honestly so glad I took the leap and applied.”   To read more of Sophie's blog and discover how GMTS can accelerate your career journey by fast-tracking you into a senior leadership role visit our website: https://lnkd.in/eiD5KKcY You can learn about our 6 non-clinical specialisms, info on how to apply and our entry requirements.   Applications close on 31 October for September 2025 entry.    #GraduateScheme #GradJobs

3rd Year Psychology Student | Interested in Organisational Psychology and HR | Passionate about helping people and building positive relationships | Statistical skills

It was good to attend the University of Lincoln Careers Fair 2024 today (University of Lincoln). This included a range of employees and job sectors. All sharing their knowledge, expertise and advice for career paths in their area. Thank you to University Of Lincoln Careers & Employability for arranging this helpful event. Another special mention to Joshua White, who is currently completing the NHS HR grad scheme (for a Postgrad Diploma in Human Resource Management). He was lovely, knowledgable and helped answer any of my questions. Talking through the benefits of taking and what occurs during the HR scheme. As well as giving me some top tips for the application process. It was very insightful and great to chat about another option for my career postgrad. I attended with my friends and student collegues Samuel Cahill, Anthony Brown, Niamh Sadler and Hannah Maddison.

Equality, Diversity, Inclusion Lead in NHS England

Loved visiting Leeds this week to kick off the NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme (GMTS) Welcome Ceremony for our new 2024 trainees! 💙 We transformed the main stage into a cosy fireplace as we sat down for a fireside conversation on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion with the insightful Andre, recent graduate and previous Freedom to Speak Up Guardian, and Fiona who is an inspiring, compassionate mentor. How do our core values and lived experience shape how we show up at work? 🌈 How did we deal with being excluded in the past? 🌟How can trainees make a positive impact as they navigate the Graduate Scheme? ⚖ I took some time to explore lovely Leeds too 😍 Wishing all our trainees a fantastic start to their NHS placements! #MyNHSImpact

    • Erk, Fiona and Andre posing in front of the main stage at the welcome event, smiling. The poster hung up on top of the stage says: NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme.
    • Photo from the welcome ceremony. Big room with blue lights. 200 trainees sitting across round tables and looking at the main stage.
