With AI, automation, and A/B testing shaping digital experiences, you might wonder... Do we still need user-centred design (UCD)? Absolutely. To quote Hannah: “Humans still populate the earth today and use all these tools.” So, why wouldn’t you want to involve them in your design process? - A/B testing helps optimise, but it won’t tell you the “Why” to users behaving a certain way. - Data-driven tweaks lead to small improvements, but true innovation comes from designing for people, not just from patterns in the data. We help teams put UCD into practice in a way that delivers real impact. Want to make it work for you? Let’s chat: https://lnkd.in/e6nmFmCc #UX #UserCentredDesign #ROI #DigitalTransformation

Our research shows that over 80% of users expect a seamless experience across all devices. That means they want websites and apps that are fast, intuitive, and consistent. If your site or app falls short, you risk losing customers and missing opportunities. So, how can you ensure your digital experience meets user expectations? A multi-disciplinary approach is key. By combining: - User-centred design: to align with real user needs - Web optimisation: to ensure performance across all devices - Usability testing: to identify and fix friction points early …you can create a digital experience that’s intuitive, accessible, and future proof. Ready to adopt a multi-disciplinary approach? We can help: https://lnkd.in/ea2UP2ax #UXDesign #UserExperience #DigitalExcellence

Max, April, and Hannah have been diving deep into user research, from working with The Charity Commission to improve key services to speaking with teachers about the resources they use in history lessons. Over 50 user interviews later, they’ve uncovered insights that will help make these services more intuitive and accessible. While remote research might not seem like the most glamorous part of what we do, it’s the kind of work that creates real impact for real users. Great work, team! #UXResearch #UserNeeds #Accessibility #HumanCenteredDesign
I feel Iike I've started the year just posting about the cool out of office experiences I've had. Well what about the reality of 90% of the research projects I get to work on: sitting in front of a screen for the remote user interview. Over the past few weeks April and I have been working with The Charity Commission to review one of their key services. In the methodology I created I felt that we'd get a lot out of understanding what people did outside of using the service itself. By talking to various roles and charity sizes - did you know there are over 170,000 charities in the UK??? - over 25(ish) interviews we've gathered loads of additional insight for the client team. I've also just started working on a project with Hannah which is talking to teachers about resources they use to teach history-related lessons, with a bit of usability testing thrown in, over 24 sessions. Maybe not quite as exciting as meeting Upsy Daisy but super interesting stuff that will make a material difference to users of these services. Plus I'm working with two awesome UX-ers who are doing all the work, thanks April and Hannah! Oh, and that's a real participant that April was talking with - poor internet connection, or are they an international art thief?

The most impactful time to invest in usability testing? The earlier, the better. But that doesn’t mean it’s ever too late. Before development: Prevent costly mistakes before coding even begins. During development: Refine your design with real user feedback. After launch: Fix usability issues before they become business risks. We break it all down in our blog: The cost of Delays: When and where to invest in usability Read the full blog here: https://lnkd.in/dDZYWFAg #UX #UsabilityTesting #UserExperience #ROI

“Fixing a UX issue post-launch costs 100x more than solving it early.” Rushing design might keep stakeholders happy for now, but is it worth the risk? Investing in usability testing upfront saves time, money, and frustration. All while protecting your brand. Prioritising UX from the start pays off. We’re proud to have partnered with Essex County Council (ECC) on their digital transformation journey from 2022-2024! 2.5 years ago, ECC lacked the tools and skills for a cohesive digital experience. Now, they’re thriving with a customised Local Gov Drupal CMS, growing adoption across local authorities, and an expert in-house team. This message from ECC says it best: "Thank you for your professionalism and dedication in supporting ECC to get to where it is today. We are very excited about the next phase of our LGD journey, the potential and appetite for more microsites and subsites is enormous and will be keeping us all busy for some time." We’re excited to see what’s next as ECC continues to lead in local government digital transformation! Need help migrating to Local Gov Drupal? Get in touch. Last week, the Nomensa team braved the storm and took a trip to Manchester to join the BBC digital accessibility team in kicking off the next few years of making BBC products, services and systems work for everyone. It was a great day meeting the team and other agency on the framework, as well as hearing about the challenges and immediate priorities for the BBC. Thanks for organising the day Romana & Sean - I know that Alastair, Ronny, Meri, Max and I can’t wait to get stuck in!
