🎉 Exciting news! 🎉 We're proud to announce that two of our projects as part of HENNE (Housing and Employment Network North East) have been selected as finalists for the UK Housing Awards 2024! The two categories that we are included in are; 'Recruitment or retention campaign of the year' for our New Start programme and 'Resident employment and training award' for our BOOST programme! North Tyneside Council is thrilled to be a partner in these programmes that deliver incredible services to our tenants and communities. Alongside Karbon Homes, Newcastle City Council, Bernicia and Tyne Housing, we have delivered intensive, individualised employment support to tenants and created career boosting start up roles with our local businesses. Throughout the programmes, one to one, holistic support has been provided to both the employer and the employee to make each of these placements a success. All of this is made possible with funding from the The North East Combined Authority A huge thank you also goes out to the amazing team in North Tyneside; Michael Knaggs, Lorna Gray, Chris Horoschok, Sharon Percy, Michael Kennedy and Lauren Cooper who are always going the extra mile for our residents! Our BOOST Employment Advisor, Lauren met one lady on a tenancy visit after she had left some difficult family circumstances. She listened to her concerns, built rapport and found something for her that really sparked her interest. She commented, “I feel really excited and nervous about starting my course. I am excited because it means for the first time in a long time I’m doing something for myself. I would really like to work in construction or some kind of demolition. I know its not really a typical job for a woman but that’s why I want to do it to prove to myself what I am capable of. Meeting Lauren gave me the motivation to do something with myself and I feel really grateful for the help.” Boost is a HENNE partnership with Newcastle City Council, Bernicia, North Tyneside Council, Home Group, Karbon Homes, Johnnie Johnson Housing and Tyne Housing.
