  • Brilliant feedback from Charity comms expert Carrie Brookes about the first ever podcasting workshop at VODA today. A big thank you to Si Beckwith for sharing his knowledge with the VCSE.

Just finished a brilliant training day about podcasting with Si Beckwith held at NORTH TYNESIDE VODA. Being a massive podcast fan this was a chance to geek out - this guy knows his stuff! 🤓 He is also a brilliant trainer, very relaxed and auccessfully answered the million questions we threw at him. My brain is now buzzing with ideas for different clients as to how we might engage with our audiences using this ever-growing medium. Did you know over 20% of adults listen to at least one podcast a week? They also appeal to a wide age range too. I was surprised how low the entry costs are for set up and ongoing production. But as Si drummed into us, it's all about getting your strategy right early doors, this needs to be figured out first. Only 16% of podcasts make it past 10 episodes! 😬 Are you thinking of creating podcasts for your charity? This geek is all ears! (I mean me, not calling you a geek Si! 😂)

  • On Tuesday the 21st of January, we hosted the 3rd annual Grow & Eat networking event, organised by the project’s officer, Vicky Batsioudi. Growers, gardeners and nature lovers from North Tyneside and beyond, gathered to share their news, exchange ideas with each other, and make plans for the year ahead! In this year’s event, we were also joined by two wonderful speakers, Mark Ridsdill Smith from Vertical Veg (verticalveg.org.uk) and Gemma Gee, also known as The Cramlington Forager (https://lnkd.in/g5JN2R6t) who both inspired us with their talks about how to make the most of our urban and natural space. Finally, the event saw the official launch of the Garden Network of North Tyneside membership, which has been in the making for the past couple of years. To find out more and join the Network, please visit: voda.org.uk/garden-network If you run a community garden or are planning one, but you are not sure where to start, please contact Vicky at Vicky.batsioudi@voda.org.uk With Spring just around the corner, there’s never been a better time!
