Due to poor weather expected this weekend, Northampton Town Council’s event scheduled in Becket’s Park tomorrow has been cancelled, and the activities planned for the Market Square have been relocated. We have worked with both West Northamptonshire Council and the Town Council and have been successful in helping to rearrange elements of each of these events to be accommodated within Grosvenor Shopping Northampton. This will further support the BID's popular Grotto and ensure that the Grinch and Elf Takeover still goes ahead. Elements of entertainment will move out into the Market Square if weather permits. Other components of the Town Council’s event are in the process of being rescheduled to further complement activities planned for the Market Square on the Saturdays of 14th and 21st December.

Christmas 2024 may be in full swing but plans are already well underway for an unforgettable 2025 in our town centre. It was great to sit down with the BID board today to discuss a wide range of projects and proposals as we strive to make Northampton town centre a better place to work, live and visit.

Excellent work from Andrew, Nathan and the team at Market Square News who have donated 60 cases of Orangina to four local charities. The stock, worth almost £1,000, was donated to Northampton Hope Centre, The Lewis Foundation UK, Workbridge and SHINE DEVELOPMENT CONCEPT CIC. It is the first year the store has made such a donation and they repeat to hope the gesture on an annual basis in years to come.

Northampton's Christmas Lights Switch On, due to take place this Saturday 23rd November at the Market Square, is now RESCHEDULED to next SATURDAY 30TH NOVEMBER between 12 – 6pm, due to the adverse weather forecast for this weekend. Storm Bert is predicted to bring winds of up to 46 miles per hour, along with several hours of heavy rain on Saturday, with the Met Office issuing a yellow warning of disruption and flooding for the area. Northampton Town Council has made this decision to ensure the safety of the public, performers and stall holders. The Christmas trees around the town and at the Guildhall will be illuminated from tomorrow to create a welcoming festive atmosphere for visitors and shoppers over the coming week. Visitors can still see Santa on Saturday 23rd November between 10.30am and 4pm, when he arrives at his Grosvenor Shopping Centre Grotto, hosted by the BID and supported by the town council. To book, visit: https://lnkd.in/dM9xWPW9 Christmas favourites the Break-Dancing Elves will now perform on the Grosvenor Shopping Centre's Upper Mall as part of the Grotto launch at 12.35pm, 1.30pm, 3.00pm and 4.00pm, along with the Cheeky Balloonist Elves who will be creating free balloon models between 11am and 4pm. The stage schedule for Saturday 30th November remains largely unchanged, with headline act Billy Lockett and the Northampton Sings Out Choir set to perform.
