Every penny donated to our Warm this Winter appeal goes into our Warm this Winter Fund ❄️ The fund supports the small local charities that are working to improve the lives of older & vulnerable residents across Northamptonshire. Like Power of the mind networks, who are distributing vital food parcels to those in need; Pravasi Mandal who run a meals on wheels service to ensure their older neighbours have hot, nutritious meals; and Friends of East Hunsbury Primary School, who run a pop-up café & warm space. We have come a long way since our humble beginnings. 50 years of community foundations in the UK and Europe from Wiltshire Community Foundation Swindon, England in 1975 to Albania European Community Foundation Initiative and the Korca Community Foundation in 2024. But our story began 111 years ago... The first community foundation originated in 1914. It was the brainchild of Cleveland, Ohio lawyer, Frederick Harris Goff, who was concerned about philanthropic gifts which had outlived their original purposes. His idea was to develop charitable endowments that would be flexible enough to respond to changing community needs. Cleveland Foundation Thanks to Mr Goff and many other good ancestors, the community foundation network now has 2000 community foundations across the globe and have been in action for over a century. We are dedicated to building community philanthropy locally by raising and giving funds now and building an endowment for the future to support changing community needs and the next generation. Our funding ensures that local communities can directly affect the issues impacting them and donors have the benefit of seeing the #impact of their giving on their doorstep. Northamptonshire Community Foundation can work with you to help make a difference to communities right on your doorstep. We will work with you to understand what inspires you and help guide your giving journey. We manage funds and donations, supporting hundreds of initiatives every year, tackling some of the toughest social issues in the county. Whether you want to establish a #fund with us, make a one off #donation, or develop a #legacy in memory of a loved one, we are able to work with you to bring your #giving to life. Wonderful news to receive the Charity Excellence Grant Maker rating of 5 stars ✨✨✨✨✨! This recognition highlights the dedication and hard work of #communityfoundationteams across the UK in making the grant application process more accessible and inclusive. At Northamptonshire Community Foundation, we’re proud to be part of a movement that continues to support small charities and voluntary groups by reducing barriers and ensuring transparency. We're passionate about learning and growing to have even greater impact for our communities! #CommunityImpact #GrantMaking #InclusiveFunding
Community foundations have been given a Charity Excellence Grant Maker rating of 5 stars, and have been chosen as Runners Up for the People's Choice Award - a fantastic recognition of all the hard work that community foundation teams do to make applications easier and more inclusive. In the 2025 benchmarking survey, community foundations were rated 5th out of 49 selected UK charity trusts and foundations. Arduous applications cost small charities and voluntary groups unnecessary time and resources they really don't have. Community foundations are always exploring new areas to learn and improve upon to ensure grants are inclusive, impactful and transparent to all. That's why we are grateful to Charity Excellence - a FREE one-stop-shop for everything a non-profit needs. for sharing their results, along with the methodology behind the 2025 survey and helpful advice for trusts and foundations to improve grant-making practices: 👇 https://lnkd.in/eJB4eDpb

It’s estimated that 38,000 Northamptonshire residents are at risk of fuel poverty. We're working to tackle this with our Warm this Winter appeal. ❄️https://lnkd.in/eU72ben6 Any donation, big or small, will have a meaningful impact on those facing financial hardship this winter and will enable us to continue awarding vital funds to charities across Northamptonshire, like The McCarthy-Dixon Foundation who told us: "Mary was rationing her heating each day due to her significant outstanding bills, resulting in prolonged periods of extreme coldness and discomfort. By covering the outstanding fees, we relieved Mary of the burden and stress associated with her accumulated debts. Moreover, we provided her with a portable heater and heated blanket, ensuring that she could stay warm and cosy in her home.” If you are able, please donate to our Warm this Winter appeal today. #WarmThisWinter
