❤️ Schools in Nottinghamshire are working together as one Councillor Sam Smith, Cabinet Member for Education and SEND, and his deputy Councillor Nigel Moxon, visited Abbey Gates Primary School in Ravenshead to hear all about the Together As One Collaboration it has been working on. The collaboration includes five schools in Nottinghamshire working together to add value to each other’s settings. During the visit, the councillors met represenatives from the Pupil Parliament who shared their experiences of the project. School council representatives from all five schools will be visiting the House of Parliament soon as part of the initiative. 🦺 We were delighted to welcome Notts TV to Mansfield this week for a feature on our £20 million project to build a new 160-place school for pupils with special education needs and disabilities. The school, which is being built on the former Ravensdale School site, will be run by Diverse Academies and known as Horizons Academy when it welcomes students aged seven to 19 in early 2026. It is part of a wider programme being delivered by ourselves to create up to 490 additional SEND school places by 2026 to address the growing demand for more specialist school places across the county. The project is being designed, project and cost managed by the-arc-partnership-ltd, a joint venture between ourselves and public procurement specialists SCAPE. Construction work is being carried out by Morgan Sindall. #NottinghamshireCountyCouncil #Education #Construction #SEND

🙂 We are investing £50million into the creation of 490 extra SEND school places by 2026. Part of these plans include expanding St Giles School,Retford, where nearly £1m was invested into the reconfiguration of the school and the expansion of a second site dedicated to secondary school provision. The completed works have created 40 extra school places, giving young people access to a highly specialised curriculum and wonderful learning environment. Councillor Sam Smith, Cabinet Member for Education and SEND, visited the school recently and saw first hand the difference the investment has made for St Giles' pupils. 🤝 We are delighted that our 'unique' joint venture with the Arc Partnership has been extended until 2031. Now eight years after the joint venture’s launch, the county council has approved a five-year extension to its an initial 10-year contract with Arc Partnership for it to continue delivering a wide range of services for the benefit of Nottinghamshire and its communities. The multi-million-pound projects it has delivered on behalf of the county council include new state-of-the-art schools, refurbishment of existing maintain schools, modernising its libraries and managing the development of the county council’s new low carbon, all-electric office Oak House headquarters, near Hucknall.
