Oakhaven Hospice
Hospitals and Health Care
Making every moment matter for patients with a life-limiting illness. Palliative care in New Forest, Waterside & Totton.
About us
Since 1992 the highly regarded Oakhaven Hospice in Lymington, Hampshire, has offered palliative care to patients, carers and families across the New Forest who are facing complex physical, emotional and practical difficulties surrounding end of life. Making every moment matter: whether at home, in hospital or in the hospice itself the emphasis is on the quality of care. “It’s not the years in your life but the life in your years!” Now also incorporating Totton and Waterside, Oakhaven provides specialist medical and nursing care; counselling and bereavement services; physiotherapy, complementary therapies, education and training and a wealth of social, health and wellbeing support. With statutory income providing only 10% of annual running costs, 90% must be raised by the Hospice. This is achieved by donations, fundraising events and activities, charity shops, gifts in wills, lottery, investments and the social enterprise company Oakhaven Care. A team of wonderful volunteers assist in a variety of roles including bereavement support, fundraising, gardening, chaplaincy, hospitality and retail.

Could you spare a few hours a week to offer companionship and support to someone locally? Oakhaven Neighbours support patients in their own homes making a difference to their quality of life. Neighbours get involved with a variety of things, for example, picking up prescriptions, light shopping, gardening, accompanying for walks, trips out and companionship or maybe sitting with a patient so that the carer can take a much-needed break, safe in the knowledge that their loved one is in good hands. Full training is provided. We are currently seeking volunteers to become Oakhaven Neighbours across the New Forest and Waterside, and particularly in the Totton area. If you would like to know more about the scheme and becoming an Oakhaven Neighbour, please email neighbours@oakhavenhospice.co.uk - or drop by to see us at the New Forest Volunteers Fair at Brockenhurst Village Hall on Sunday 26 January (10.30am-4pm) #volunteer #newforestvolunteer #oakhavenhospice #makingeverymomentmatter

Make a difference in 2025 as an Oakhaven Volunteer! We are eternally grateful to all our family of volunteers who have given and continue to give their time to support Oakhaven and its community. Volunteers support our work in every department. Many support the people we care for in the hospice; others support our patients in their homes; others volunteer for a few hours a month at the Coates Centre. A fantastic team helps in our shops, others assist occasionally with events and our new 'Awareness Volunteers' help us distribute leaflets and posters. Take a look at https://lnkd.in/ejpua4RB for more information, or call us for a chat on 01590 646447 or by email at volunteering@oakhavenhospice.co.uk. We'd love to hear from you! On Sunday 26 January, come and find out more about volunteering for Oakhaven at the New Forest Volunteers Fair. We will be at Brockenhurst Village Hall from 10.30am to 4pm. #volunteer #oakhavenhospice #coatescentre #oakhavenshops #oakhavenneighbours

Do you have a skill that you could share with others? We are looking for volunteers to help for around three hours most months in our Coates Centre. This will enable us to broaden the offering of support groups and activities we provide to people in our community with a life-limiting illness, caring for someone or coming to terms with bereavement. In particular we are looking for help with cooking, baking, repair shop/practical skills, gardening, photography, mindfulness, light exercise, book club, movement, citizen's advice, creative writing/journaling... or perhaps you have another skill that you would like to share with others. Giving the gift of time to Oakhaven can be a rewarding experience, making a real difference to others whilst enabling you to meet new people, feel valued and share your skills and experience. If you think you might be able to help, please contact us at wellbeing@oakhavenhospice.co.uk. #oakhavenwellbeing #makingeverymomentmatter #journalling #scrapbook #creativewriting #poetry #writer #author #writing
