𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 - 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 We started byDiffusion with a clear ambition: to make consultancy and advisory services more accessible to small and medium businesses. Why? Because our work shouldn’t just be for big business. Leaders of small to medium businesses wear many hats—they’re running the business while growing it, often spinning countless plates on their own. A little help and an objective perspective we offer and create space for, can make all the difference. And it’s so important, because small to medium-sized businesses are the backbone of our economy. They drive economic development, spark innovation, and create jobs. In the UK alone, SMBs represent an incredible 99.9% of the business population, employ 61% of the private sector workforce, and contribute over half—52%—of the private sector’s turnover. But it’s not just about numbers. Most small to medium businesses want to do the right thing as they grow and scale. They strive to be guided by their values and purpose. And when they succeed, the impact is clear: stronger customer loyalty, enhanced brand reputation, and deeply engaged employees—driving sustainable growth and resilience. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 That’s where One for the City comes in. It’s a simple yet powerful way to unite businesses for social impact. We know that leaders already have so much on their plates—so we’ve designed One for the City to make it easy for businesses to do good without adding complexity. It’s another way we’re helping leaders focus on their growth while making an impact. Last week, we shared some big news with our members: our first round of funding is complete and the finishing touches to the project that will start in January, are being added, with the usual magic being added by the Leeds Community Foundation before its kicked off. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who’s supported us on this journey so far. This is just the beginning—and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead.

  • As always a warm welcome from the Connect Yorkshire community, showcasing and supporting Yorkshires finest #entrepreneurs #innovators and growing businesses at the #CYAwards and going to great lengths to recognise and celebrate those organisations creating meaningful connections, supporting local causes, and contributing to the wellbeing of the communities they serve. Congratulations to all those nominated for the ‘Community Impact Award’ and thank you to the Yorkshire Children's Charity, Charlotte Farrington for the stark reminder that disparity could be right by your doorstep, demonstrating the real need in the region for 3rd sector and social interventions. Charlottes words distilled the difficulties these organisations face when continuing to make a difference to those that need it the most. We have a fantastic array of organisations working tirelessly and doing great things in the region, take a look and show them some love 💛 Candlelighters Trust Chris Salt Q5 The Crescent & Co CIC Paula Chamberlain Make It Wild John Burgess Autism Plus Canal & River Trust Visiting Angels Royal Armouries Museum #connectingyorkshire #communityimpact

𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲-𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 "𝟭 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆" At ByDiffusion, we believe growth should benefit everyone. That’s why we launched "1 for the City"—a platform enabling Leeds businesses to contribute 1% of their revenue or profit to local charities, addressing critical issues like poverty, health inequalities, and youth development. Inspired by Doughnut Economics and developed in partnership with Leeds Community Foundation and Tall Agency, this initiative simplifies ESG for SMEs. With 17 businesses already on board, the collective impact is growing—proving that commercial success and community responsibility can go hand in hand. 𝗟𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟭 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆  Leeds faces stark socio-economic challenges, with 23% of the population living in poverty. "1 for the City" offers an accessible, impactful way for businesses to help tackle these issues, while enhancing employee engagement, strengthening reputations, and fostering valuable connections. Built with agility and guided by clear values, "1 for the City" is now a key part of Leeds’ Inclusive Growth Strategy, demonstrating how businesses can create shared value. 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆  When businesses unite, even small contributions can drive meaningful change. Let’s show the power of collective giving in action. Yesterday we attended the Attachment Research Community conference in Birmingham, and it turned out to be a great day filled with talks and insights from changemakers across education. We’re incredibly grateful to have been invited by one of their trustees, Nick Mort. We first met Nick during the 100 Talks tour, thanks to the legendary Michelle Storer at Hays, and he’s been one of our biggest supporters ever since. He’s opened some incredible doors for us, from helping roll out our programme across schools in Leicester and Coventry to patiently listening to all our wild ideas… and It seems like another one of those ideas might have stuck… Nick, thank you for backing our mission. You’re a great man who cares as much as we do about our next generation, and it really is the perfect match. It was lovely to bump into a few other people we met on our speaking tour across education too! Huge well done to Andy Wright OBE and the ARC team for putting on such incredible event.👏

This year, many of you now know that I’m running the London Marathon for the amazing Young Minds Matter. To fundraise, I’m doing things a little differently and hoping a few businesses will get behind me to help! 🙏 I’m crap at baking and really don’t like asking individuals for money—especially in the current climate. But one thing I can do is TALK. So, to hit my £2,500 target for this incredible charity that supports young people, I’m offering my services for free and aiming to bring a few great businesses on board. ✨ I’m looking for 5 different businesses to sponsor 5 school assembly talks for a minimum donation of £500 each. Here’s what you’ll get: 🗣️ One assembly talk at a school of your choice, with your logo co-branded on my slides. 🚀 An invitation for two people from your business to attend the school talk and witness the impact. 🧡 All proceeds will go directly to Young Minds Matter, helping them support more young people. 🎽 Your logo proudly displayed on the back of my London Marathon race vest. Over the last 3 years, I have delivered 130+ talks in education and shared my story with over 30,000 young people. Please tag anybody in business or companies you know who might be willing to support me on my road to the London Marathon 2025. This is the perfect opportunity to raise much-needed funds for a truly remarkable charity and make a difference to hundreds of young people in a school local to you! I hope you can help... 💚

In 2023, we supported Zero Waste Leeds’ Winter Coat Appeal to give out over 7,600 items of winter clothing for free, saving families over £140,000. This year, we are proud to work with them again and they need your help. They are asking for donations of unwanted winter coats and other items of clothing. All they ask is that the items are clean, of good quality, and have a functioning zip. You can drop off your clothing at any of their 38 donation points across Leeds. With the last date for donations being Friday 31 January 2025. And if you'd like to support their work through your business, please get in touch. Last year, Zero Waste Leeds were supported by 28 businesses in the city. If you're interested, email info@zerowasteleeds.org.uk.
