Attachment Research Community were delighted to support Achieving for Children Virtual School Better Futures Event at Ascot Racecourse today with Michael Guard. The aim was to support businesses to employ care leavers and reverse the shocking statistic that 36% of care leavers are not in employment, education or training. As Director of Children's Services Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Lin Ferguson said "Poorer outcomes for care leavers are not inevitable. We are aspirational for our young people. We want them to succeed not inspite of being in care, but because of it. We need to build a community to support our amazing, talented, resilient young people to thrive.' Great examples from Anna Butcher from John Lewis Partnership and support from Bethany Caunter from Care Leaver Covenant

Thank you Cathy Draper for this afternoon's ARC webinar showcasing Walsall's Building Resilient and Inclusive Communities and Schools (BRICS) programme. BRICS demonstrates the power of collaboration, having successfully united all the Walsall maintained Primary Schools behind a vision of trauma-informed and attachment aware practice. In the first year of BRICS, there were 31 referrals for children at risk of exclusion, but with the support of the BRICS programme, only one of these children was excluded from their Primary School. At Short Heath Foundation, where Cathy is Executive Headteacher, there have been no suspensions or exclusions since they changed their culture over six years ago. "It's not easy, you make mistakes and learn as you go, but the approach is a game changer for our children". The BRICS webinar, and all others in the ARC Learning Programme, will be available to ARC members on the online platform. Visit our website to see our future events or find out more about membership. www.the-arc.org.uk
