Here’s a quick look at one of our latest projects at OxDevice — a small-diameter polymer tube being coated with a medical-grade silicone dispersion from Polymer Systems Technology Ltd. Achieving micron tolerances with materials like silicone, polyurethane, hydrophilics, and antithrombogenics is a technical challenge, but our team has developed in-house equipment that makes it possible. We control everything from viscosity to speed and rotation, with options for both UV and heat curing, ensuring precision for every application. Here's an example of a closed-end side-hole braided nitinol structure produced on one of our unique automated machines at OxDevice. The machines are fully configurable, offering multiple side-holes, split braids, strips, and other intricate geometries. This project, supported by the Medical Research Council’s DPFS, brings together leading experts from the University of Exeter, the University of Bristol and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, under the leadership of the The University of Sheffield. Together, we are advancing the diagnosis and treatment of complex nerve and muscle disorders. This cutting-edge project combines electromyography with optical spectroscopy, offering deeper insights into muscle and nerve tissue to help improve diagnosis and monitoring of neuromuscular diseases.
