Amrit Singh Mann began his journey three years ago as an apprentice at Sky News, going on to win the NCTJ Apprentice of the Year award in 2023 and the ‘Higher Apprentice of the Year’ at the London National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards 2024. He praises his apprentice route, saying that it was ‘brilliant’ and that the NCTJ diploma was ‘invaluable’. “The apprenticeship at Sky has been brilliant. I’ve had the opportunity to rotate between almost every team in the newsroom to get an understanding of what the various roles in the business involve. The rotations also provided me with an opportunity to decide what roles I’d be interested in pursuing in the future, and vice-versa. “The NCTJ part of my training has been invaluable. After completing my qualification, I returned to the newsroom as a more skilled, confident and all-round better journalist. PA Media Academy were my training providers, and they did a superb job in making the whole process lots of fun.” #NAW2025 #SkillsForLife #journalist #Apprenticeship #JournalismCareers
