𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀 Virtual reality is not dead—it’s evolving and transforming how we collaborate on design projects. At Parametrix Ltd., we’re pushing the boundaries of technology, whether by using high-end models or consumer-grade devices like the Meta Quest 3. Over the past week, we’ve put Autodesk Workshop XR to the test. Here are some standout features that are changing the game: • Enhanced Spatial Awareness: Experience models at true-to-life scale to accurately gauge spatial relationships and design proportions. • Real-Time, Collaborative Reviews: Connect with your team from anywhere. With every participant accessing the latest model data, decision-making becomes faster and more informed. • Streamlined Data Integration: Direct streaming from Autodesk Construction Cloud means you’re always working with the most current models. Plus, integrated issue tracking helps catch and resolve design errors on the spot. • Cost Efficiency and Sustainability: Early detection of design flaws reduces delays and rework, saving both time and budget. Remote collaboration minimizes travel, supporting sustainable practices. Beyond the formal benefits, we love that Autodesk Workshop XR offers an engaging and dynamic way to connect remotely. Instead of the usual Teams meeting, gathering within an ACC model feels far more immersive. The ability to create issues and access data directly within the virtual space accelerates quality reviews significantly. We see this as the future of collaboration, especially as hand tracking technology improves. And, let’s be honest—a look-alike avatar can make the experience a lot more fun! While challenges remain, such as minor buffering delays when streaming large datasets like a 140mb NWD model containing 11 discipline models, the continuous advancements such as showcased by That Open Company in the BIM community are steadily overcoming these hurdles. We’re even considering including a Meta Quest 3 for all new customers to further boost collaboration. Do you fancy one? Enquire today via enquiries@rvtparametrix.co.uk Follow us to stay updated on the latest in BIM, digital construction, and digital twinning as we continue to redefine collaboration. #VirtualReality #BIM #DigitalConstruction #Autodesk #WorkshopXR #RemoteCollaboration #Innovation #ImmersiveTech #DigitalTwin

𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 – 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞! This week, we attended the Housing Innovation Show at the The ICC Birmingham. As a company working extensively in the residential sector, we recognise the importance of these discussions in shaping the future of housing. The keynote message from the event was clear—businesses need to focus on the problem before jumping to solutions. However, while there was a strong emphasis on the role of data in housing, there was little discussion about the need for a sector-wide data standard. The UK already has established frameworks such as the HACT UK Housing Data Standard and buildingSMART International IFC, yet they were not widely mentioned. Without industry-wide adoption, housing providers risk inefficiencies, data duplication, and software solutions that cannot scale effectively. Each organisation developing its own format will only create further fragmentation, making it harder to achieve the level of integration and automation the sector needs. At Parametrix Ltd., we are actively working on digital surveying solutions that incorporate data standardisation, making housing information structured, reusable, and interoperable. If you are interested in real-world applications, we are happy to share case studies—get in touch at enquiries@rvtparametrix.co.uk. Another recurring theme at the event was AI. While it is encouraging to see the sector embracing new technology, many discussions lacked clarity on what AI really means in practical terms. AI today is where BIM was in 2016—widely discussed but not always well understood. For AI to be effectively implemented, it needs a clear strategy aligned with business policies, IT infrastructure, and operational goals. It is not a one-size-fits-all solution, nor something that can be bought off the shelf. A considered approach, developed in collaboration with executives, consultants, and IT specialists, will be essential for businesses looking to integrate AI in a meaningful way. Housing and digital transformation go hand in hand. The challenge now is to move beyond discussions and towards industry-wide collaboration on standardisation, interoperability, and AI strategy. If your organisation is exploring these areas, we would be happy to continue the conversation. #HousingInnovation #DigitalTransformation #HousingData #BIM

𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀: 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗙𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁! As a passionate Scan-to-BIM studio, we live and breathe laser scanning. But here’s the million-pound question: Which scanner truly reigns supreme? To confidently advise our clients, we leave no stone unturned: • Who has the best hardware? • How fast can it capture data? • What’s the quality of the output? • How easy is the processing? • What are the ideal conditions for use? • How does software integration boost the workflow? • And of course, how does cost impact it all? Spoiler alert: There’s no one-size-fits-all scanner. Recently, we hosted two industry leading manufacturers Leica Geosystems part of Hexagon and FARO Technologies at our studio to find out the fine detail about the follwoing scanners: • Faro Orbis • Faro Focus • Leica BLK2GO • Leica BLK360 G2 Here’s what we learned: 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀: The gold standard for detailed 3D modelling and Scan-to-BIM workflows. Think precision, high-quality data, and jaw-dropping detail. With cutting-edge features like higher resolution cameras (Leica BLK360 G2) and external device compatibility (Faro Focus), these scanners are perfect for static environments and detailed surveys. 𝗦𝗟𝗔𝗠 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀: Once the underdog, SLAM is now rewriting the rules. Devices like the Orbis and BLK2GO shine in dynamic environments, with lightning-fast data acquisition and on-the-fly processing. But there’s a catch—the final detail doesn’t yet match terrestrial scanners. So, how do you choose? It all comes down to your project’s needs. Are you prioritising speed or detail? Do you need software integrations, or versatility across environments? Now, we want your opinion! Which scanner do you swear by—and why? Who should we bring into the ring next? - NavVis? RIEGL Laser Measurement Systems? What datasets or comparisons would you love to see? Let’s spark a discussion that helps everyone level up their scanning game. #ScanToBIM #LaserScanning #TerrestrialVsSLAM #SurveyingInnovation

Last week, Aleksander Gil, our founder at Parametrix, had the honour of presenting his latest research on Machine Learning and Deep Learning at the Cultural Heritage and New Technologies Conference (CHNT 24) in Vienna. Reflecting on the experience, Aleks said, “It was inspiring to connect with such a diverse audience in a city rich in heritage. Seeing students, academics, and industry leaders actively shaping the future of Heritage Building Information Modelling (HBIM) is truly exciting. I’m eager to see how HBIM will evolve in the coming years.” For those unfamiliar, HBIM goes beyond simply creating a BIM model for heritage structures; it’s a dynamic process that digitally preserves both tangible and intangible cultural heriatage assets, enhancing collaboration and knowledge-sharing around heritage values. Capturing details like material defects and repair data is only the beginning. At Parametrix, we’re committed to constant innovation. Two years ago, as large language models and image generation tools like Midjourney, DALL-E, and Stable Diffusion started gaining traction, we posed a bold question: Could we use AI to classify building elements in point clouds and ultimately automate the Scan-to-BIM process? The answer is yes – but the journey is complex. After exploring over a dozen algorithmic, machine learning, and deep learning techniques, we’re excited to share some groundbreaking insights with you soon. Stay tuned; the future of HBIM and digital heritage preservation is just getting started! #AI #HBIM #Innovation #CHNT24
