🌏🦟💡Initial set of findings from our research on #AI to improve #malaria prediction by integrating #satellite-derived #climate measurements with #realworld #health #data has just been published in the #Lancet Planetary Health. This work, which we recently presented at The Planetary Health Alliance Summit #PHAM2024 and #NeurIPS Climate Change AI, aims to significantly improve the ability to #predict and combat malaria outbreaks, especially in resource limited settings where accurate and real-time forecasting can save lives. It outperforms existing spatiotemporal #deeplearning forecasting models, and is generalisable to broader #disease #monitoring. We’re delighted to see Sara Khalid recognised for her work and leadership in equality, diversity and inclusion within University of Oxford and beyond! The Lab team had a wonderful time sharing our work with the wider community, and celebrating the amazing work across the university! 

Sara Khalid will be speaking next week at a #climatechange and health seminar with the Oxford Immunology Network next week alongside Professors Sophie Yacob and Sonia Lewycka from Oxford University Clinical Research Unit – we’re so excited to be sharing our #planetaryhealth research with the University of Oxford Community. She’ll be discussing our malaria prediction research, which combines environmental data like rainfall, temperature and satellite images showing vegetation and light pollution with health data to improve our ability to predict malaria using #AI. After being accepted to #PHAM2024, this work was published as an abstract in the Lancet Planetary Health.
