One last push! We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Photon Energy and Midsummer fundraiser for Slobozhanske Hospital in Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine. Working with RePower Ukraine Charitable Foundation and Solar Energy UK, we have raised nearly £11,000. Although we are still short of our target, we will be closing the GoFundMe page on 28th February and exploring other ways to raise the remaining £4,000 needed. We hope to get the system installed in May this year and will provide regular updates (and photos) on progress! Women in Renewable Energy in Ukraine The growth of the renewable energy sector in Ukraine will have a positive impact not only on the country’s energy independence, but also on women’s economic empowerment. After all, the renewable energy sector in Ukraine creates more jobs for women and opens up more career opportunities, including management positions, than traditional energy. According to the survey, in 53.3% of renewable energy companies, the share of female on top positions exceeds 30%, while in traditional energy this share is almost zero. 82% of women noted that their employers apply the principles of equal conditions and opportunities. This has the following manifestations: equal working conditions fair pay participation in training events (courses, seminars, advanced training) and conferences, career growth. Also, energy companies (not only renewable energy) are starting to look for women for positions previously held by men. In many cases, due to the war, when closing “male” vacancies, women may be given priority. The main reason for this situation is the need to form a stable staff of employees, since men can be mobilized, while women will remain working. All this means that RES is one of the most promising sectors for women in Ukraine, and new projects in the industry will help create jobs and ensure gender equality.
