International Physical Literacy Association (IPLA) India team member Amit Malik took a session on Physical Literacy for all the Physical Education Teachers and Sports Coaches of Bal Bharti School - India Bal Bharti Senior Secondary School - India Bal Bharti School - Bahadurgarh Session oriented participants on need for physical literacy, physical literacy components and implementation aspects. Invitation to apply to join a global team of consultants, practitioners and researchers. The voluntary position of Research Lead has become available and therefore we are offering our members the opportunity to take on this role and join the IPLA Operations Team.

The IPLA Team are attending/presenting at the International Society for Physical Activity and Health Congress 2024 at Palais de Congress in Paris. Natalie Weir, Early Years Lead, will be presenting her qualitative insight into the understanding and perceptions of PA and PL in early years education: What’s known, what’s done and what’s needed? And Olivia Flemons, Secretary, will be presenting a new piece of Physical Literacy Research, exploring meaningful relationships with movement through a Physical Literacy lens across residential communities, and how this could influence active landscape planning. We are excited to listen to and share insight on how we can tackle the inequalities in access and participation in physical activity.

IPLA addresses Change The Game annual conference in Umea, Sweden IPLA was honored to open the Change The Game (Sweden) annual conference in Umeå last month (September 2024), focused on promoting “Quality Movement Experiences” as a tool for improving health, enhancing public spaces, boosting social capital, and increasing overall wellbeing.

We did it! 30 plus of us, with the support of marshals, managed to climb up Shutlongsloe (12km with 380m climb), cycle 17km with 400m climb to Tittesworth Water to complete our 3km canoe and then cycle back to base (21km 240m climb) in around 5 hours. A great achievement for a very worthy cause. Many thanks to those of you who have already donated as we are currently just short of £10000! As I am sure you are aware, MND is a most cruel disease that takes the lives of friends and family away. Funds are needed for research and motivated by the incredible Kevin Sinfield and others, a group of 30 friends are going to walk, climb, cycle and canoe 50km in the Peak District on October 6th.
