After surveying our plans for the new #playground (yes, he was impressed!) the future king even had a go at a new sport for him - American football. Dexter’s Adventure Playground is run by the great people at BIGKID Foundation a charity which uses sport and physical activity to create a positive sense of self-worth - which is an ethos very much shared here at Playinnovation! 🎉 Our plans for the playground include a ballcourt for basketball, a sports area with our patented Target Games, an activity space which encourages fun-based fitness activities and of course lots of play! How's everyone doing out there? - It's been a while since our last post and certainly an interesting year so far, with lots of interesting projects including a SAPCA Award for the Silwood Estate MUGA, new connections and some great product development. Now we are entering fairer weather, we will send one of our partners out to grab some drone footage from a few fantastic schemes we have been involved in. For now, in the spirit of our first and foremost passion, which is the invention of games to help tackle inactivity, we have something we can't wait to release, which is a simple yet fun, engaging (and can we say 'addictive'?!) flick football style APP game version of STREET SNOOKER X. Q: What's the idea behind this innovation and why? A: When Playinnovation launched in 2010 the goal was to create outdoor games that could also be played on your phone or tablet. Q: Why has it taken so long to bring to market? A: We actually beta tested the App idea around 8 years ago and it had several thousand downloads, plus successfully encouraged players to go out and try the 'real life' version after they had learned the rules on the APP game. One of our directors refused to let us invest in the marketing and development of the game, and the code quickly became outdated. That director is no longer involved in Play Innovation, so we we going again! Q: How will the APP help tackle inactivity? A: We aren't claiming to be all things to all men, however after extensive consultation with over 2000 children, headteachers, teenagers and general public, eight out of ten people say they would be more likely to play the app game and then go and play the outdoors version if available in their local school, park or leisure centre. Q: What are the associated costs of the APP and 'real life game'? A: The Street Snooker APP will be available as a FREE download although we will add in app purchases further down the line, including discounts for any local authorities, schools etc wanting to invest in the outdoor version starting at under £5K. Q: Why STREET SNOOKER and not one of your other patented games? A: We discovered that the traditional version of the Snooker (made famous by Barry Hearn, Steve Davis, Ronnie O'Sullivan) is one of the most advanced games in the world for positive developmental outcomes. We have watched thousands of children learn, thrive and be active on our outdoor play / target wall versions.
