I'm looking for the next generation of Founders! Product Builder is back, and we’re searching for 100 aspiring founders at the very start of their journey. Our mission is simple: to make entrepreneurship more accessible. We’ll teach you how to: 💡Build products that people genuinely want 💡Understand demand signals 💡Test and develop your ideas using practical tools 💡Navigate what investors are looking for and if you even need them (hint: a lot of the time you don't) In the past two years, we’ve helped over 500 ideas take shape. Here are just a few: 🟩 Orli: NHS doctor Dr Mark Cox founded Orli after seeing how many young people face mental health crises, with 80% not receiving support. Orli helps parents create personalised pathways to support their children and access the right care at the right time. 🟦 ivee | The return-to-work platform: Sisters Amelia Miller and Lydia Miller founded ivee after seeing their mum take a big pay cut when returning to work after a career break. They’re now helping women across the UK re-enter the workplace with flexible, fairly paid roles. 🟥 Served (Techstars ‘24): Eve Williamson and Alana Bralsford, both managing food allergies, launched Served to connect diners with restaurants that cater to their needs and to help restaurants better understand how to support diners with allergies. (I needed to use Served as I failed to cater to their allergies at the Product Builder Bootcamp...) 🟨 Legacy Compass: After losing her parents, Natalia Pazzaglia created Legacy Compass to help others navigate the logistical and emotional challenges of bereavement, while also connecting them with a supportive community. ⬛️ Mater-AI: Gatleen Bhambra applied to Product Builder with one idea but pivoted during the programme to co-found Mater-AI with Chelsea Williams and Nickel Blankevoort Ph.D.. They’re developing physics-based models to speed up material discovery, aiming to improve energy efficiency in data centres and beyond. 🟪 VidPlate: Tom Howson, founder of Howson Digital, created Vidplate after noticing how repetitive the process of making social adverts could be. Vidplate now automates professional ad creation, saving weeks of work without relying on AI-generated designs (that are 9/10 quite weird). There’s never been a better time to start a business. With our programme kicking off in January, it could be the perfect New Year’s resolution to turn your idea into reality. Check out the link in the comments to apply! To all past founders who’ve benefited from this programme: please help us spread the word so we can make the UK the best place in the world to start a business! We also do fun things like this in the picture below... It was fantastic to attend the launch of the newly annoucned Laboratory for AI Security Research (LASR) yesterday evening - thank you to the Plexal team for being such great hosts. To help the UK stay ahead in the “new AI arms race” the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster announced a new Laboratory for AI Security Research to protect the UK and its allies against new threats, saying: 👨💻 "The lab will pull together world-class industry, academic and government experts to assess the impact of AI on our national security." 👨💻"While AI can amplify existing cyber threats, it can also create better cyber defence tools and presents opportunities for intelligence agencies to collect, analyse, and produce more useful intelligence." The University of Oxford, in collaboration with The Alan Turing Institute, Queen's University Belfast and UK Government, will play a lead role in the newly announced Laboratory for AI Security Research. The £8.22 million government-funded initiative marks a significant step forward in strengthening Britain's cyber resilience. #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #Research #Cyber #CyberThreat #AIEthics #Partnership #Collaboration #AIResearch #Technology

In December's Business Leader Magazine, HERE EAST was spotlighted as a leading UK innovation hub, drawing parallels with Paris’ leading startup campus, STATION F 👏 The UK has a world-class startup ecosystem which we are very proud to be part of. As Business Leader emphasises: Here East is home to 6,500 people working and studying and is designed as a “campus for innovators.” Our campus is “a collaborative ecosystem under one roof” and “a place where start-ups, established companies and universities mix.” From Plexal to UCL to the Victoria and Albert Museum – our community is harnessing the power of #collaboration and London’s #OlympicLegacy to shape the future of work, innovation, entrepreneurship, and growth in East London and beyond. Lots of amazing things have happened with Diverse Made Media this year and as I reflect on just what we've done, it's great to see how, through the help of some fantastic clients and partners, we've been able to do so many of the things that we set out at the start of 2024. From developing our industry-leading camera system 'Caerus' and launching it at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June, working on some fantastic projects including the Channel 4 Paralympic Homecoming concert in Birmingham, a TV commercial for Motability, a podcast series for Aerobility, exciting research films for the Global Disability Innovation Hub at UCL and Lancaster University, through to an amazing event for Stella Howard with Rosie Jones, and last but certainly not least, having the privilege of documenting the launch and work of the fabulous Chloe Davies from It Takes A Village Collective This has enabled us to develop the business in to new and exciting territory and I'm very happy to share that we have just moved into our first dedicated offices at Plexal in London, where we have a multi-purpose facility including our new editing suite and a range of spaces for filming and working with many of our freelance team. At the same time we have just launched our new website at www.diversemade.com so if you fancy learning a little more about how we can bring some first class film content into your project, check it out when you get a chance.
