University of Plymouth’s research into multiple sclerosis (MS) has been supported by a generous donation of over £80,000 from Transform MS CIC, a community interest company dedicated to advancing neurodegenerative research. 🔬 This funding will benefit pioneering projects like the South West Impact of Multiple Sclerosis initiative, which has been running for over 20 years and involves 1,600 local participants. It gathers invaluable data on how MS changes over time, helping researchers develop better treatments and providing a sense of community for those affected. The University of Plymouth's EmbryoPhenomics research group has introduced the LabEmbryoCam, an innovative robotic microscope crafted with 3D-printed components. 🔬 Based at Plymouth Science Park, this cutting-edge instrument autonomously monitors embryonic development, offering unprecedented insights into how aquatic species are impacted by environmental changes like ocean warming. 🌊 By making the LabEmbryoCam open source, the team has ensured its accessibility to researchers worldwide, empowering global studies on the most dynamic and sensitive stages of life. Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML) is leading the charge in understanding how floating offshore windfarms (FLOW) may impact UK marine ecosystems. 🌊 As part of the groundbreaking ECOFlow programme, PML is spearheading two pioneering projects—EQUIFy and FrontLine—focused on delivering critical insights for sustainable offshore renewable energy expansion. 🌱 Using cutting-edge technology, from autonomous monitoring systems to satellite remote sensing, these projects aim to assess FLOW's ecological effects on biodiversity, ocean processes, and critical habitats in the Celtic Sea.  It's great to see all the innovation and research impacting our approach to sustainability happening right on the Park's doorstep.
