About us
Portsmouth Pride aims to be more than just an LGBTQ+ parade and gathering, we feel that as times are moving on, so should the ethos of Pride. Portsmouth Pride will not discriminate against any person who wants to find out more information or meet new people, we aim to create a safe space for everyone in our community. In 2017 Portsmouth Pride was taken on by a group of local LGBTQ+ people have got together to create an LGBTQ+ pride event for the city of Portsmouth. With the success of the Main Event the team took on new challenges with a bigger event in 2018 and the launch of the Portsmouth Pride Youth Society (PPYS), with the aim to branch out more in the community. 2019 saw the biggest Pride event to date in Portsmouth, with amazing performance from local musicians, drag performers and the PPYS. Showcasing the community feel to the Main Day festivities. 2019 was a great year for the community events, with over 10 fundraising events, numerous community events and the first PPYS youth night. The aim of Pride is to raise awareness through entertainment, and community engagement. For the Portsmouth Pride Team it’s about more than just one day. In 2020 the team is working hard to make sure there is something for everyone, from small meet-ups to big exhilarating fundraising events. We have created a committee, and are working with Portsmouth City Council and many local businesses and organisations to ‘put the show on the road’ and we’d like to invite anyone who wants to be involved in this celebration to get in touch. Come and join us!

I always think it takes a day or two to fully reflect on an event, so looking back now at Sunday where we hosted the Portsmouth Pride Stakeholder Network and recognised World AIDS Day in a stunning gathering at The Queens Hotel Portsmouth. I'm truly honoured to have led this work developing our partnerships and connections across the city ahead of us hosting UK Pride '25, and to see so many wonderful partners, stakeholders, community, civic and corporate organisations coming together was very moving. Then adding the incredible speakers in as well who spoke so passionately about lived experience as well as the city-wide and national projects surrounding HIV that our city is engaged in made for a very emotional evening. Thank you to Stephen Morgan MP for opening the event and for rallying the city being Portsmouth Pride, and all the work you've been doing nationally for our city. To Rob Mee from UK Pride Organisers Network for speaking so passionately about your experience living with AIDS as well as supporting our hosting of UK Pride '25. To Oliver Brown and the Terrence Higgins Trust for inspiring our guests and being such a captivating and passionate speaker. To Hannah Byrne for leading our city's work so expertly and being such an advocate not only for reducing HIV stigma but also for our wider LGBTQ+ community's health. And finally to Andrew and Justine Major who joined us ahead of Andrew's solo row across the Atlantic Ocean to raise money for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Over 150 organisations from across the city were represented, we raised money for the Elton John AIDS Foundation and secured a sponsor to see Cherry Liquor join Paul Carruthers Mr Gay World 2024 at the front of the Portsmouth Pride Parade in 2025 where we'll be hosting UK Pride '25. And they all got to see our incredible new brand, developed by the team at Liquid Friday to truly represent us as a charity, community, and city in hosting UK Pride '25. Thank you to my fellow trustees and volunteers for making the event happen, all of our incredible partners and supporters and everyone who came along in the name of collaboration 👏 Photos from the incredible C Goble of Goble Photography

Tonight Portsmouth Pride Trust played its part in marking #WorldAIDSDay2024. Together, we can combat the stigma around AIDS and create a world where we end AIDS, by giving people the access they deserve to healthcare available. It was also lovely to see the launch of the UK Pride 2025 branding, kicking off the countdown to the main event next summer. #Pride #Portsmouth #Equality #Diversity #Inclusion Portsmouth Pride Trust, The Queens Hotel Portsmouth

What an inspirational event Thank you to CP Robinson and the trustees and volunteers of Portsmouth Pride Trust for including me in such a great networking event. Inspiring to hear from Oli Brown MBE from The Terence Higgins Trust representatives from UK Pride Organisers Network and our own Portsmouth team. Hannah Byrne and Stephen Morgan MP added to the line up with a heartfelt local response. A day to remember World Aids Day and think about the impact of Pride and where we can take a role But the ask is to support. Portsmouth Pride certainly, but also an incredible local man going for a little row. Follow the link in the comments and follow Andrew. He really does deserve it

We love working with Big Yellow Self Storage who kindly store our items for all our Pride activities. If you're looking for somewhere secure for your items, don't hesitate to get in touch with them.
We know it can be difficult to work out exactly how much space you may need. 60% of people incorrectly estimate how much storage space they need when getting a quote online. So don’t leave it to guesswork as you’re likely to need less than you think. Less space means less cost. Talk to our store teams or pop in and see the range of storage rooms available. A quick conversation could save you money.

Thank you to Big Yellow Self Storage for the use of their amazing storage solutions for our Pride event materials. It's taken the hassle out of our committee needing to store materials at their homes.
Side hustles are a big thing in Britain but our recent research uncovered that for many running small businesses from home space is a real struggle. Over a third say their business is taking over their homes. For the 75% of side hustlers using their homes for storing stock, Big Yellow can help with local storage for as long or as short of a time period as you need.
