We’re thrilled to announce that Mulberry Academy London Dock Secondary School has won the prestigious 2024 Brick Award in the Education category! We acted as the Employer's Agent, Quantity Surveyor, Clerk of Works, and Party Wall Surveyor on behalf of our client, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The project involved constructing a new five-storey, L-shaped secondary school, which includes car parking, utilities, a sports hall, and a games space in the basement, with the games space roof ingeniously forming part of the playground above. The judges praised the school’s design, stating: “𝘔𝘶𝘭𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘓𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘯 𝘋𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘚𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭 𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘩𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩-𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨. We’re pleased to announce the successful completion of the UCL Teaching Spaces Refurbishment and Redecoration project for our client, University College London! The work involved refurbishing 19 teaching rooms across the Institute of Child Health Wolfson Centre, School of Pharmacy, and Royal Free Hospital buildings, along with redecorating 100 additional rooms across the Bloomsbury campus. Putting #sustainability at the heart of our work, we installed fully recyclable carpets and ceiling tiles, as well as acoustic panels crafted from 100% recycled materials (Zintra – Euro Beech). Coordinating around exams and events required seamless collaboration, achieved through live project updates and regular meetings with all stakeholders. It was a pleasure working on this project, delivering Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, CDM - Principal Designer, Employer’s Agent, and Project Management services. Behind all the glitz and glamour of the Love to Rent Awards is a real commitment to celebrate the incredible work happening in the Build to Rent sector and to continue communicating these amazing messages to customers. Setting up these awards last year was both thrilling and a bit daunting, but we’re here to make sure that people get to see the passion and dedication driving this industry. Seeing how much it means to the winners on Friday, and watching the entire sector be recognized for its positive impact, has been incredibly rewarding. What makes a development the "best" isn't just its design or aesthetics; it's also the values it brings, like social impact, affordability, and customer care, being more inclusive and providing a meaningful rental experience—one that truly considers people’s needs, whatever their situation. The creativity, innovation, and commitment we saw in this year’s entries are inspiring and shaping the future of housing to provide excellent, thoughtfully designed rental options for everyone. Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and helped make this event a celebration of success and progress in our sector. We’re looking forward to continuing to make Love to Rent a trusted platform where renters can confidently search for their next home.
