Calling on fellow businesses to support one of the most important community groups in the UK Dad La Soul We've been hosting events together for seven years in support of men's mental health. It's a massively underserved support service and relies on the generosity of people to cover the costs of running its imaginative and engaging programme of events. Today Dad La Soul has launched at £10k crowdfunder to secure its future into 2025 and beyond. Watch the video below for more information and donate using the link in comments below.
Founder @ Dad La Soul | Award-Winning Social Entrepreneur | Leading Dad-Led Mental Health & Social Impact | Built A Global Movement With Over 10,000 Hours Of Dad Engagement. Featured In ITV, The Guardian, & Radio 4.
Considering what I do for a living, you’d think I’d be good at asking for help. Spoiler alert: I’m not. That changes right here, right now👇 But today, I’m pulling up my big-boy pants and asking—not for me, but for the dads who desperately need us. Watch this film now. Every week, 84 men in the UK take their own lives. That’s 84 families shattered—84 communities left with a gaping hole. It could be your dad, your mate, your brother, your uncle, or the guy you share a coffee and a terrible joke with on your way to work. It’s one of the reasons why we started Dad La Soul in the first place. We’ve built a movement for change. In seven years, we’ve supported over 12,000 families. We’ve pulled dads back from the brink and brought kids their dads back. We’ve created spaces where men can open up—about everything from toddler tantrums to postnatal depression and even childhood trauma. We’ve hosted events where 97-year-olds raved with toddlers and families created lifelong memories. Through innovative partnerships with tech hubs, museums, and galleries, we’ve given low-income families access to life-changing experiences. This isn’t just a community. It’s a lifeline. But now, Dad La Soul is on life support. The cost of keeping the lights on has skyrocketed. Traditional funding has dried up. This isn’t just about losing events. It’s about losing lives. Here’s what we’re fighting for: 1️⃣ Sustaining Current Chapters: Our Worthing and Brighton chapters support hundreds of dads each week. These lifelines can’t close. 2️⃣ Expanding Into New Communities: Tunbridge Wells, Eastbourne, and London are calling for help. We need your support to answer. 3️⃣ Building for the Future: By training volunteers in suicide prevention, we’ll ensure no dad is left behind. This is where you come in: 1️⃣ Donate: here > https://lnkd.in/ea8Mvikm Even £5 funds a dad’s first playdate or trains a volunteer in life-saving skills. 2️⃣ Tag Five Friends: Let them know this matters. 3️⃣ Share This Post: Someone in your network needs to see it. 👉 Follow us @DadLaSoul and use #GiveMe5Dad And if you know a dad who’s struggling—or even one who looks like he’s got it all sorted—reach out. Could you tell him about us? Tell him there’s a place full of great fellas who’ve got his back. Send him our way: www.dadlasoul.com. Because sometimes, saving a life starts with something this simple. - A massive thank you to Alan Stockdale of Foundlight Productions for this incredible film.

🎧 In the latest episode of the Digital PR Podcast, Stephen Baker dives deep into the nuances of crafting effective pitch emails with Maddie Davies that not only grab attention but also secure valuable media coverage. Our three key takeaways are: 🧠 The Importance of a Strong Subject Line: Maddie emphasises that the subject line is your first impression. It should contain the essential keywords right up front to pique the journalist's interest. For example, in a recent successful pitch, the subject line read, "World's Bluest Water Revealed by Scientific Theory." This not only informs but also intrigues, making journalists want to learn more. 🧠Provide Everything Upfront: One of the most valuable pieces of advice shared was to give journalists all the information they need in one go. Maddie recalls a tip from Louise Parker, highlighting that journalists are often pressed for time. By providing comprehensive details like methodology, key findings, and even visuals, you eliminate the need for follow-up questions, making their job easier and increasing your chances of coverage. 🧠Crafting with Care: Maddie shared her process of writing pitch emails, which involves getting all her thoughts down first and then refining them. She spends a significant amount of time ensuring clarity and simplicity, understanding that journalists may not be familiar with the intricacies of the story. This attention to detail is crucial; a well-crafted pitch can make all the difference in securing media interest. So grab a cuppa and dive in! Link in the comments below. While we kick of recording the new series of the Digital PR Podcast, this week's episode from the vaults is one of our Minisodes, with Louise Parker chatting to PR Director Abigail Bennetts about how she uses Twitter / X in her day-to-day work and it's impact on digital PR. 3 key take outs are: 🧠Networking Opportunities: Abi emphasised the incredible networking potential that Twitter offers for digital PR professionals. Unlike many other industries, our community thrives on this platform, allowing us to connect with peers, journalists and potential clients. Building relationships online can lead to amazing opportunities, as Abi herself experienced when she landed her job at Propellernet through a connection made on Twitter. 🧠Personal Branding: Establishing a personal brand is crucial in our industry, and Twitter provides a unique space to do just that. Abi highlighted how sharing thoughts, insights and even a bit of personality can help digital PR professionals stand out. Twitter allows for a more casual and authentic expression, making it easier to engage with others and showcase your expertise. 🧠Navigating the Negatives: While Twitter has its benefits, Abi also discussed the darker side of the platform, including the potential for negativity and overworking. It's essential to set boundaries and be mindful of how much time we spend on social media, especially when it comes to our mental health. Abi's advice? Take breaks when needed and remember that it's okay to use Twitter as a tool for inspiration rather than a constant source of pressure. As ever, thanks to our sponsors at CoverageBook!
