  • 💥🏛️ Crucial news for the UK rental market: new regulations have been put in place to prevent sanctions breaches involving tenants and landlords. What does this mean for your daily operations? For years, the sector has grappled with ambiguity. It was not clear whether sanctions reporting applied in cases where anti-money laundering (AML) checks were not required. The results of this? ⚠️ The movement of funds between letting agents and landlords created potential vulnerabilities for money laundering through the obscuring of financial flows. Now, the rules of the game have changed... 🚀 Imminent impact of the new guidance: “While the updated guidance strengthens the UK’s sanctions framework, it also places additional burdens on an already overstretched sector. Commercial agents will now need to conduct more thorough due diligence to uncover the true identities of the companies they are engaging with and their ultimate beneficial owners.” – Timothy Barnett, CEO, Credas This may be a challenge for many, but it also strengthens the sector's position against money laundering and eliminates previous uncertainty. Changes will be in place from 14th May, 2025. How can you be prepared? 👇 🔗 Link: https://lnkd.in/dMMrmuCY ---- 💡 P.S. 200,000+ real estate leaders receive the most relevant industry news and insights directly to their inboxes every week.
