Since 1980, we have provided the only dedicated end-of-life care service for people living in Swindon & north Wiltshire

About us

Prospect Hospice provides end-of-life care to people 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission. Care and support is tailored to the needs of the individual. Our specialist teams of nurses, doctors, therapists and family support staff provide clinical, emotional and practical support to patients and their loved ones at the hospice in Wroughton, Swindon, in people’s homes and in the community. In 2021 Prospect Hospice cared for and supported 1,928 patients and 504 carers and family members. We have a nationally accredited education and training arm that looks to raise the understanding of end-of-life care issues with healthcare professionals and works extensively with care homes across our operating area, offering a wide range of training courses. In recent years we have expanded our education offer, looking to work with other health and social care providers to meet their training needs. Prospect Hospice is a charity and provides all of its services free of charge to patients and this is made possible thanks to generous donations from our community, which raises around 70% of the £7.5million it costs each year to deliver our care. Prospect Hospice was founded in 1980 and serves a community of more than 300,000 people in Swindon and north east Wiltshire, including Royal Wootton Bassett, Marlborough and Pewsey, plus Lechlade and Fairford in Gloucestershire. • Today MPs will begin to hear evidence from experts on the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, external, widely known as the Assisted Dying Bill. Tomorrow we are hosting the BBC Radio 5 live Drive show with Chris Warburton and Clare McDonnell live from the hospice. This is incredibly exciting for us, we may be a small hospice but with our supporters by our side, we have a big voice. Tune in tomorrow from 4pm. Hospice UK #pallativecare #hospicecare #swindon

  • We were deeply honoured to welcome Her Majesty the Queen, our President, to the hospice for a truly unforgettable day. Her Majesty met with our amazing volunteers, dedicated staff, and brave patients and their families in our inpatient unit. She also spent time with local dignitaries and families who have been part of our journey. The day was made even more special as The Queen unveiled a commemorative plaque, marking the renaming of The Evans Education Centre, a vital part of our mission to provide outstanding care and training. To top it all off, Her Majesty cut a stunning cake as we celebrated 45 incredible years of care, compassion, and community. We are so grateful for this historic visit – a moment we will treasure forever. Thank you to everyone who made this day so extraordinary!

  • On Monday evening, MPs from all political parties united to advocate for immediate action on hospice funding and the provision of palliative care. We were encouraged to see many MPs reference lend their support to our appeals. From addressing critical funding gaps to emphasising the essential contributions of hospices, the discussion underscored the pressing need for change to support those with serious illnesses. A heartfelt thank you to every MP who took part in the debate and stood behind our calls for action.

  • Small acts of kindness can make a big difference When the "legs" on our computer keyboards break, they often end up being discarded. But thanks to the creativity and generosity of Blue Box Goble Ltd, that’s no longer the case! Using their 3D printing expertise, Blue Box Goblin has been crafting replacement parts, helping us reduce waste and keep our workstations fully functional. This small but impactful gesture is a wonderful reminder of how innovation and kindness can go hand in hand to make a real difference. Thank you for supporting Prospect Hospice in such a thoughtful way!

  • Huge thanks to Demi and Georgia for hosting an incredible 'Sip and Paint' evening in support of Prospect Hospice! Their creativity and dedication raised an amazing £2,126.68 to help us continue providing care and support. The hospice holds a special place in Demi's heart, having cared for her grandad and cousin. We’re so grateful for their generosity and the community who came together to make this event such a success. 💚
