🧪 Access proprietary metagenomic sequences with global FTO for free?* Following consultation with global biocatalysis leaders in industry and academia throughout 2024, Prozomix is now offering access to its extensive proprietary metagenomic datasets for others to discover, develop and build on their own research (whether this be enzymes, other proteins or anything else!). We believe, given the amount of novel sequence data realised to date, that companies should not effectively become gatekeepers of something which could better mankind faster. Therefore, we are opening up our current / future datasets, which are free from implications of the Nagoya Protocol / offer global FTO, to commercial and academic researchers worldwide (currently 55 million clusters of two sequences or more at 50 % full-length amino acid sequence identity (clusters built from predicted coding sequences using mmseqs2 clustering) – i.e. broadly equivalent to some 55 million subfamilies)! [NOTE: defining such a “Metagenomic Protein Diversity Metric” (proposed to Prozomix by Prof. Neil Wipat from Newcastle University), whilst apparently somewhat ‘cheap and cheerful’, and of course open to optimisation / suggestion, is relatively easy to calculate for any database, and would be very useful if adopted by others. It would serve to significantly de-mystify in a meaningful fashion what is being offered to the multidisciplinary biocatalysis market by both companies and academics alike?]   💡 Also new for 2025: 🧪 Expanded enzyme panels (not really news, happens every year..!)      Whilst still the largest, most diverse and free-to-screen collection of native biocatalyst panels on the market that we know about, the Prozomix Biocatalysis Enzyme Toolkit is actually always expanding, ever since 2010 in fact, now comprising nearly some 8,000 members!  Additional enzymes rolling out in early 2025 will include a large expansion of popular enzyme classes such as IREDs, KREDs, transaminases, 2OG-hydroxylases, esterases and cofactor recycling enzymes (GDH, FDH, LDH, PDH, NOX, PPK etc).  However, if the Toolkit is ever missing a desired enzyme type, or you’ve screened our panel and been unsuccessful in finding a hit, we will develop a bespoke panel for you, for, yes, free...!   🧪 Produce your own enzyme panels rapidly? Given incessant recent and of course future advances in increasingly AI-driven enzyme discovery / engineering / design, and the significant growth of the Biocatalysis sector, in mid-2024 we significantly expanded our small-scale CMO service capacity to one thousand gram scale samples per week (vial and / or plate format (96 / 384)), allowing you to quickly produce (to a standard quality very widely accepted by bigpharma), screen and launch your own novel enzymes most competitively! We've also been expanding our scaled enzyme manufacturing facilities - more on this coming soon!   *contact info@prozomix.com for further information
