During #TransAwarenessWeek, we celebrate trans and non-binary people. Public law can be an important tool for LGBTQ+ rights and the fight against discrimination. At PLP, we remain committed to being an inclusive organisation & building a sector where everyone feels they belong.

BREAKING: We're delighted that the DWP was ordered to hand over key documents to our client Ellen Clifford in an interim hearing last week. Clifford will be in court on 10/11 December to challenge a consultation that was a "smokescreen for cuts" to disability benefits. In the hearing, the DWP confirmed that they did NOT assess employment or disability impact before the consultation on #WorkCapabilityAssessment reforms. This supports our position that these reforms are a money-saving exercise & not a real attempt to support deaf & disabled people. Proposed reforms would affect more than 450,000 people and many would lose up to £416 a month. In last week's budget, the Chancellor promised to "deliver the savings" set out by the previous government when they proposed these reforms. We are now asking the Government to look beyond the savings to the real people who will be harmed and did not have a chance to speak out. Find out more in the Big Issue: https://lnkd.in/eDr74JNK

We were proud to be one of the groups contributing evidence to Just Fair, ahead of the UK's upcoming review by the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. This is the moment to shine a spotlight on the barriers people face in accessing their everyday rights 👇
🚨 Today we are publishing the evidence we received as a part of the UK’s upcoming review by the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. It is a vital chance to hold the UK Government to account over its failure to uphold our everyday rights. https://lnkd.in/eqnKJVwF

CASE WIN 🚨 Incredibly proud that we were able to represent Access Social Care in this crucial and timely case for government transparency. We are so pleased that the tribunal has recognised the public interest in sharing information on the funding of adult social care. Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/euP4dD9z
💥 We have won our landmark legal case demanding Government Transparency on adult social care funding! 💥 We are delighted to share that the Information Tribunal has found in our favour for our first Information Tribunal case. This means that the Government MUST DISCLOSE the information that Access Social Care requested relating to the evidence considered. In fighting for this information, ASC is trying to reveal and understand the decision-making that guides social care, and how it can be improved. This is just the start ,we have a second round case in progress. Watch this space! Read all about it here: https://lnkd.in/euP4dD9z
