Congratulations are in order for Philipp Reinstaller MSS, Head Sommelier at Mauro Colagreco, on being awarded UK Sommelier of the Year 2024 at this year's UK Sommelier of the Year contest organised by the UK Sommelier Academy and the IWSC - Club Oenologique. We would also like to congratulate Dion Wai and Picon Valentin for placing 2nd and 8th respectively. The awards highlight standards in the field of wine service with each contestant facing assessments in written blind tastings, theory exams, service tasks, and food and wine pairings. The journey to the finals demanded remarkable skill and perseverance, culminating in a rigorous series of tasks for the top three finalists. These included wine list correction, blind tasting, a service challenge, a bar task, food and wine pairing, and a champagne pour.
