Emergency traction power works during Storm Darragh - a thank you: On Friday 6th December, under a yellow weather warning and high winds, Lowery's teams safely removed and replaced 2 x 45m long faulty DC cables at the Fratton depot under emergency isolation conditions. We thank our staff who were called upon at short notice to react to this emergency on behalf of the railway. "On behalf of Lowery, please can I thank you all for your positive planning responses and problem solving efforts. It was noted and very much appreciated". - Daniel Burge, Director Power & Track Fratton Depot is a train maintenance depot used by Southwestern, Great Western and Southern on key commuter routes. In recent years, there has been an increase in DC cable faults in depots. These have often led to significant train disruption and the need to close part of a depot. The DC cable failures have often originated in buried routes, where water ingress has led to cable blistering. We also thank Resource Rail Limited Resource Rail for their short notice provision of an Isolation Team Matthew Lukehurst.
