Our team from 𝗔𝗪 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and 𝗔𝗪 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗹 had a great day last week along with many other companies who not only donated volunteers but also vehicles to collect the trees. We understand that this years fundraising surpassed last years donations and eagerly await the confirmed fundraising total for 2025. The staff and team from Pilgrims Hospices supported everyone on their rounds, adding in some fun and keeping the spirits high, it was cold! Originally, we were only tasked with “white Boxing” the unit ready for the new tenant to fit out, but during the programme of works the incoming tenant asked us if we could complete their fit-out requirements for the store in time for their grand opening. How many tonnes of stone do you think it takes to restore 8-arches on a 30m-high, Grade II-listed 180-year old viaduct? 🚉 ...𝟰𝟬 𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟮,𝟲𝟬𝟬 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬. That's how many we have restored during a year-long restoration of the iconic Ouse Valley Viaduct near Haywards Heath. Built in 1841, this 450m-long structure with 37 arches has been repaired to preserve its heritage and protect public footpaths below. We used locally sourced materials and environmentally considerate techniques like soil stabilisation and 'Lewis pins' to ensure minimal environmental impact while achieving precision placement of stones weighing up to 480kg. This upgrade works not only restores "the most elegant viaduct in Britain" but also ensures it stands strong for generations to come. A huge well done to everyone involved for successfully completing this project on time for 'Network Rail, whilst protecting the environment. Our HQ here in Folkestone officially closes 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟲𝟬𝟬𝗵𝗿𝘀 and will reopen on 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝗻𝗱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, 𝗮𝘁 𝟬𝟴𝟬𝟬𝗵𝗿𝘀. During this period many of our staff will still be answering their phones and responding to emails. Additionally, here at 𝗔𝗪 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗹 we have a 24 hour emergency on call phone number 07842 056019 should you require any support in your projects, or indeed for any emergency works that you may require filling. Whilst traditionally this period in the year is seen as down time, there are many, including staff across AW Group who will be out working delivering projects under tight deadlines, probably whilst up against the unpredictable British winter weather, all carried out whilst maintaining the highest safety and quality standards that we have become well known for. No matter what sector or industry you may find yourself working in please stay safe and make sure you, your colleagues and staff get home safe, every day.
