  • We’re delighted to partner with The Lending Standards Board in research exploring the consumer reality behind Buy-Now, Pay-Later (BNPL) in the UK. The research reveals some concerning trends:   · 35% of BNPL users often make impulse purchases they later regret. · Only 52% of BNPL users are aware of late payment fees, and just 50% know the cost of those fees before they incur them. · 15% of BNPL users faced late fees – rising to 22% among consumers with poor or very poor credit scores. · 36% of users only decide to use BNPL at the check-out stage. · 34% consumers with poor or very poor credit scores use BNPL. The findings underscore the need for greater transparency, consumer education and proactive support from lenders. As seen in FF News | Fintech Finance, our new data, captured by RFI Global, finds that only half of BNPL users are aware of late payment fees, with even fewer knowing how much these fees might be. The findings underscore that more awareness is needed about the terms and conditions of BNPL products, especially for those experiencing financial difficulty.
