It has been a busy year for the Society and our members, with a wide range of activities including supporting and responding to public policy, launching a new journal, running a packed events and training programme, and hosting our annual conference. We've also been preparing for the move of our London headquarters. 📘 Read more in our 2024 annual review with a foreward from RSS president Andrew Garrett: https://lnkd.in/gKaxpNHF

An end of an era indeed! We know many RSS fellows will have fond memories of Errol Street but we're looking forward to having a new space and headquarters to bring our community together
The end of an era. Earlier this evening we closed the doors on 12 Errol Street as the home of the Royal Statistical Society for the last time after nearly 30 years. As my workplace for the past 26 years it was strange locking the front door and leaving so many memories behind. It's been a great building to work in and hold events at but the challenges of maintaining and using a Victorian building have grown over the past few years. So a period of virtual working beckons before we move into nearby temporary office space. We will then see what the futures holds for a new permanent home for the Society.

As called for in our Statistics in Action manifesto earlier this year, we believe there should be a register of cases where AI is used in the public sector, so we welcome the government publishing how they are using algorithmic tools Our AI task force will be looking into the detail 👇
New records detail how AI helps government make quick, accurate decisions to boost trade, speed up responses and more
