Last Thursday, RTS Northern Ireland hosted a blockbuster Programme Awards at the Titanic museum in Belfast, with Vogue Williams presenting a stunning ceremony that went a long way towards recognising another brilliant year of Northern Irish television. The big winners were The Woman in the Wall and Blue Lights, which won 3 and 2 awards a piece; the former’s co-stars Daryl McCormack and Ruth Wilson both taking home Best Actors for their roles in the mesmerising Magdalene laundry drama. The Brian Waddell Award for Outstanding Contribution went to legendary broadcaster Pamela Ballantine, who paid tribute to Waddell himself, having got her start at UTV while he was Director of Programmes, 40 years ago. And the Centre also presented its first ever Hidden Hero Award to Gerard Stratton, for his vital work as Director of the disabled-led production company in Belfast, Triplevision Productions Limited. Now over to RTS North West, who are hosting their Awards tomorrow at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester. If you’re from the region and fancy celebrating some outstanding local production, there’s still time to get tickets https://lnkd.in/emRbvDCa
