Spotlight ⭐ 🇰🇪 Each week, we will be spotlighting a local organisation that Rural Inclusion supports in our social programme. Sustainable Community Opportunities for Restoration and Empowerment (SCORE) is a child-focused non-governmental organisation founded in January 2004 by a team of community development workers to address the needs and suffering of vulnerable communities. SCORE is dedicated to increasing access to Health, Education, Agriculture, and Livelihoods (HEAL) through synergistic, empowering, innovative, participatory and rights’-based initiatives. Since June 2023, SCORE has been implementing the Sustainable Household Agricultural Productivity and Empowerment (SHAPE) Project, a strategic initiative aimed at improving household income, food security, and resilience for vulnerable households in rural communities of Siaya County, Kenya. Through this project, SCORE has established six demonstration farms as learning sites for caregivers to enhance their farming knowledge and skills. The initiative has supported over 545 households to achieve food security, provided financial literacy training, and boosted loan kitties worth Kes 1,250,000 across 25 Savings and Internal Lending Community (SILC) groups, benefiting 626 members and enabling them to start income-generating activities. Additionally, 356 kitchen gardens have been established, improving nutrition and reducing malnutrition among children under five, further enhancing community resilience. SCORE is a member of the Rural Inclusion Network, receiving free access to the Ostrii platform and pro-bono support from the team and Inclusion Ambassadors. #SCORE #Kenya #NGO #Community #Development

Rural Inclusion partner with IBISA NETWORK in Senegal to drive climate insurance awareness. We are happy to share that Rural Inclusion has been working with IBISA to develop a series of "edutainment" videos in French and Wolof to increase the awareness of parametric insurance and climate risk management amongst pastoralists and smallholder farmers across Senegal. This is part of a larger initiative led by IBISA, supported by SCBF #climate #climaterisk #insurance #parametric #senegal Microinsurance Network

Spotlight ⭐️ 🇰🇪 Each week, we will be spotlighting a local organisation that Rural Inclusion supports in our social programme. OPPD Kenya (The Organisation for Pastoral Peace and Development), established in 2023, is a non-governmental organization dedicated to building resilience in Kenya’s Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) by promoting inclusivity across socio-economic backgrounds and ethnicities. Guided by a vision for a peaceful, harmonious, and prosperous region, OPPD fosters sustainable development through peace promotion, gender equality, and initiatives that enhance community health and well-being, with a particular emphasis on maternal and child health. In honour of World Pneumonia Day on 10th November,2024, OPPD Kenya, in partnership with Every Breath Counts, launched an awareness campaign in Haji Aden, Daadab sub-county, highlighting the importance of pneumonia vaccines in rural communities. Additionally, OPPD organized a free medical camp in Haji Aden Village, where residents shared their health challenges with the team and received essential services. These included general check-ups (USG, blood pressure monitoring, consultations, and medicines), pneumonia vaccinations for children under 10, and health education on pneumonia prevention, child health, nutrition, and maternal well-being. These initiatives benefitted over 100 children and 60 adults in Daadab sub-county. OPPD Kenya are a member of the Rural Inclusion Network, receiving free access to the Ostrii platform and pro-bono support from the team and Inclusion Ambassadors. #OPPD #Kenya #NGO #Community #Development
