Today marks the end of an excellent visit to our partners SQM in Chile. Tim Naughton and Liam Burlace have spent the last two weeks visiting with the team from #SQMLithiumVentures in Santiago and the SQM lithium research team in the Salar de Atacama and Antofagasta. We’d like to thank our hosts for organising a highly productive schedule, and also the Bristish Embassy who hosted a breakfast event to celebrate the Salinity-SQM partnership. https://lnkd.in/ewfy8Kfb Tim Naughton Liam Burlace MEng Maria de los Angeles Romo Pascale Farcas Robert Shepherd Mark Fones Gabriel Meruane Naranjo Hugo Fernando Giraldo Mejía Pablo Derpich Sofia Malbec De Vidts

Treating Water Better. Industrial technology using at least 50% less energy to clean up water treatment for the planet.
About us
Salinity Solutions is developing a proprietary system to clean up the world’s water treatment industries. Our technology’s first application aims to reduce the high carbon footprint of lithium extraction and help create a cleaner more efficient way to fuel our demand for electric vehicle batteries. Our patented brine concentration technology has two game-changing advantages: it’s up to 50% more efficient than traditional reverse osmosis systems, with a 50% smaller footprint. It promises a new, commercially viable, cleaner solution that can be deployed even off-grid. Lithium extraction is just the beginning. We believe that our technology has the potential to improve a wide range of polluting industries and help to solve the emerging global water crisis.

Team Profile: Vena Jain Please join us in welcoming Vena Jain MSc, AMIChemE to the Salinity Solutions team. Vena is a 2023 MSc graduate in Water and Sustainable Development from IHE Delft Institute for Water Education in the Netherlands. Previously, she completed an Integrated Masters and Bachelors (MEng Hons) in Chemical Engineering from University of Bath, United Kingdom. She has studied and worked in European and Asian environments over the past 5 years. Despite growing up in a small, urbanized city in Northern India, most areas in her town continued to suffer with sporadic water supply. Thus, her desire to work in solving such real-world problems stems from her background and future interest in such real-world problems that align with her core beliefs. During her MSc studies, she actively explored the feasibility of various treatment technologies for the removal of PFAS in reverse osmosis membrane systems. Additionally, during her past work experiences and MEng degree, she participated in projects focused on innovative wastewater treatments related to resource recovery and emerging contaminants. Vena’s first project at Salinity will be on the analysis of water quality parameters for customer projects and exploring the limitations of our system, during lab and field trials.

SUEZ in town for HyBatch water reuse Last week we were pleased to welcome our strategic partner @SUEZ Innovation Team (Paris), to see the progress on their HyBatch SAM1 system. Our hybrid batch reverse osmosis (RO) process has been scaled up and fine-tuned for municipal water reuse applications. A visit to our Birmingham office was followed by a tour of the @Te-Tech Process Solutions workshop in Southampton where the HyBatch SAM1 unit is being assembled. Once complete, the next generation RO rig will travel to the South of France for benchmarking against a standard RO at a full-scale wastewater treatment plant. Further updates on the system build and installation will follow. What a week indeed. Great to be co-presenting with Te-Tech at the EWMC this week: https://lnkd.in/ewqf7TP8
What a week! Thank you to Aqua Enviro for yet another great European Wastewater Management Conference & Exhibition in Manchester. It was great to catch up with many old faces from within the water industry and connect with new ones. For those who missed Graham and Tim's presentation, 'High Efficiency Batch RO for N & P Removal', you can view the slides over on our website: https://lnkd.in/eCSawwvG #EWWM #WasteWaterConference #WasteWater

We’re hugely proud to have won Water Efficiency Project of the Year at this year’s #WaterIndustryAwards, in partnership with GrowUp Farms. This comes after a successful water reuse trial at GrowUp's Pepperness vertical farm in Kent in January, supported by #TeTechProcessSolutions. Co-founders Tim Naughton and Liam Burlace were on hand to receive the award - the second WIA for Salinity, having scooped the Energy in Water category in 2023.

Please enjoy Tim Naughton, founder of Salinity Solutions, on the Don’t Waste Water podcast, talking about the journey from innovation to commercialisation. https://lnkd.in/eMzbNktH?
🚀 How do you attract SUEZ as a customer, inbound, SQM as a lead investor, and deploy pilots in India, Chile, France, and the UK, all on the back of four words: "RO, just better"? A couple of weeks ago, Tim Naughton welcomed me to Salinity Solutions' office in Birmingham. 📺 I got to tour their Pilot Plant (https://lnkd.in/ePWQcKcQ) 🎙️ ... and to interview Tim in greater depth (https://lnkd.in/eVi3T9ii) The fun part is that I missed Tim. Twice. And the reason why is revealing. In 2023, I recorded him at Tom Pankratz's Tech Idol in Berlin. In 2024, he recorded himself in front of my podcast booth while I wasn't there. 🤔 How could that happen? Well, Salinity's Solution is not a technical innovation - it's a PROCESS innovation. And that's less shiny for water nerds! They didn't win Tech Idol (Arian Edalat did, with Greg Newbloom as runner-up), but they got a more coveted price: inbound customers. You know the old marketing parabole: what is the unfair advantage you'd pick if you were to open a burger restaurant? Better burgers? Great location? Secret sauces? Awesome personnel? Beautiful decoration? All useful. But nothing replaces... A hungry crowd. 🍴
