Sand River is delighted to welcome Gabbi Barker to the team! Gabbi joins Sand River from ERM where she worked as a climate risk consultant, supporting companies with scenario analysis, financial quantification of climate risks, and integrating climate considerations into core strategies. Originally from South Africa 🇿🇦 Gabbi’s love for nature was sparked by adventurous camping trips across sub-Saharan Africa, hiking Cape Town’s trails, and exploring its coastlines. She has seen firsthand the impact of climate change on regions like the Kruger Park, where prolonged droughts have strained water sources and disrupted wildlife habitats. These experiences confirmed her commitment to being part of the solution to protect and restore natural systems. Gabbi has been in the UK for the last 7 years having studied Finance & Accounting at the University of Edinburgh writing her thesis on the climate change intention-action gap among students. She subsequently completed a Master’s in Climate Change Management and Finance at Imperial College London, where she developed a strong interest in how financial systems can drive meaningful environmental impacts 🌍

Meet Greg 👋 Founder / Partner of Sand River Over the next few weeks, in the run up to Blue Earth Forum, we are going to be profiling some of our favourite impact led investors who are joining us on June 25th/26th in London to find their next investment. It is a pleasure to be kicking this off with Greg Robson who has been incredibly supportive to us at Blue Earth Summit, attending and speaking at our events and backing businesses in our community.(all thanks to an introduction from Simon Lamb) Greg is obsessed with nature thanks to his adventures growing up in SA and now he is doing what he can to protect what he loves by backing the best businesses that have nature based solutions at their core. It is always a positive sign when CEO's you know endorse their investors and I know how much Sam Sutaria has valued the input from Greg since they invested in WaterBear Network...
