Can the UK deliver on Lord Darzi’s recommendation of shifting towards care closer to home and digital transformation? Huge question, with so many complex parts- some of which I’ve had the pleasure to discuss with multidisciplinary colleagues and experts over the past couple of months. At the International Myeloma Societys annual meeting in Rio, I joined a panel of expert clinicians including Beth Faiman PhD, MSN, APN-BC,BMTCN, AOCN, FAAN, FAPO Monica Morris Rahul Banerjee Mary Steinbach, DNP, APRN and Vincent Rajkumar at the Nurse and Allied Health Symposium hosted by Tracy King Our session focused on real world solutions to treatment delivery challenges. As a clinical community we of course greatly welcome the increasing volume of myeloma treatments available, but need to consider innovative ways to deliver this safely to to an aging population with multiple co-morbidities. Increasing treatment delivery closer to home being key. More recently at the Proud2bOps meeting I joined a leadership panel with Stella Vig Anna Winyard Joanne Street and Sue Barnett to explore future models for shifting care to the community and digital transformation. Here over 200 system leads from 100+ trusts met to foster collaboration and share practical solutions to meet the most pressing operational challenges. Optimising the use of data and digital tech being crucial to progress. What truly stood out is the passion, dedication and vision of such a range of professionals, all involved in the delivery of #patient and ‘person centred’ care. Placing technology in our care pathways optimally is key, and we need to progress acute step down models in parallel with prevention; supporting management of long term conditions and enabling earlier detection of health issues (e.g. new symptoms, markers of disease relapse, treatment toxicities and more). At Sanius Health we are passionate about empowering patients to understand and manage their health better through a combination of wearable tech, patient self-reported outcomes and a patient support team. We have been delighted to present the results of our work at a number of conferences this year including #BSH24, #EHA24, #BOPA2024, and #CMLHZ24, sharing the impact on patient’s quality of life, unmet needs, reduced touch-points into the NHS and more. We look forward to presenting some of our most recent data at #ASH24 shortly. With strong leadership and listening to all stakeholders (critically patients) we can ensure this investment is utilised optimally and choose the right patients, right conditions, right tech/ innovations, and right settings to move this forward, not forgetting how we support those with restricted digital access along the way. This #sicklecellawarenessmonth, we're looking back at some of the advancements the SCD community has made in terms of treatment, research and enhancing quality of life. We have seen remarkable progress across these domains, but there is still more to do to elevate care, opportunities and therapies for SCD. On behalf of our ecosystem, our core purpose is to enhance visibility on the realities of living with SCD. This drives our partnerships with patients, clinical and research partners to ensure that unmet patient needs are addressed, access improved and - ultimately - well-being for the SCD community is ensured. https://lnkd.in/gJbFPSEA For my UK connections - would you be able to support me during my upcoming run by making a donation to Cure Leukaemia ? I am running ~10k but Cure Leukaemia’s CE James McLaughlin is running 220 miles ! This is for better treatments / more cure / less side effects and more clinical trials for blood cancer. Cure Leukaemia is a charity that has helped many centres in the UK with more access to clinical trials. Support Cure Leukaemia #cureleukaemia
