Thank you to everyone who joined us today for the next in our series of ScaleUp Britain Summits, with the London Stock Exchange, the Development Bank of Wales, and the wider Welsh ecosystem In front of a packed room the day began with a welcome by Giles Thorley, CEO, Development Bank of Wales, followed by Rebecca Evans, Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning, Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government. Marcus Stuttard, Head of AIM and UK Primary Markets, London Stock Exchange shared insights on the latest developments in capital markets, including: the new listing rules, AIM’s position as the growth market engine of Europe, the new market launch for PISCES, and Floww. After setting the scene the summit then welcomed to the stage several panel discussions and Q&As from both ScaleUp businesses from the region and those involved in supporting the scaleup ecosystem as well as representatives from local Universities and Colleges. The day finished with a variety of clinics such as: Raising Finance, Working with Innovate UK and Building your Board & Advisory Talent. Thank you to everyone who joined us today for the 10th Anniversary of the original 2014 ScaleUp Report which led to the creation of the ScaleUp Institute by the private sector. Speaking to a packed room at the Tate Modern, Hannah Prevett hosted a variety of panel discussions with representatives from the wider scaleup ecosystem. To start the day, Irene Graham OBE, CEO, ScaleUp Institute shared the Annual State of the Decade report highlighting the significant bounce back from the pandemic slowdown, with 34,180 scaleups now in the UK, up by 27% from 2013. The day continued with a video speech from the Chancellor Rt Hon Rachel Reeves, and representatives from both scaleup businesses and the wider ecosystem who took to the stage to discuss the innovation, internationalisation and talent of our scaleup business opportunities and the future #scaleup landscape. As Margaret Rice-Jones, Chair, ScaleUp Institute said in her final words, the atmosphere in the room was full of aspiration, vibrancy and growth.
