🇬🇧🦾 The Royal Navy has tested its Pacific 24 rigid-inflatable craft in autonomous and remote navigation modes around the Solent, marking the first such trial in UK waters. The vessel followed pre-programmed routes and was remotely controlled by the Royal Navy’s autonomous experts. Consoles, cameras, and sensors provided live feeds to control units aboard the XV Patrick Blackett off the coast of Portsmouth. The trial “forms the backbone for further integration that future ships will have with autonomous technology,” and develops procedures “to use uncrewed systems effectively for warfighting,” said Commander Michael Hutchinson. #military #army #defense #technology #innovation #unmanned #uk

Helping People and Technology to coexist in Maritime.

We're in it Now: The Quiet Revolution of Collaborative Enterprise There's a certain delicious irony in how wisdom can arrive unannounced, with a solid thump of humility. This week, at the Atlantic Future Forum - AFF, it came packaged not in grandiose proclamations, but in the subtle choreography of strategic dialogue and shared purpose. Diplomacy, I've discovered, is less about eloquence and more about the nuanced art of listening. It's a delicate waltz where words are both scalpel and bridge – precision instruments capable of dissecting complex ideas while simultaneously connecting seemingly disparate perspectives. The Unspoken Language of Collaboration Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) occupy a fascinating position in this global ecosystem of ours. We're not just participants; we must be the connective tissue of innovation and 'step up' to the plate together. Like a complex neural network, our collective intelligence emerges not from individual brilliance, but from our capacity to communicate, adapt, and respond. This AFF forum wasn't about grand speeches or chest-beating declarations. It was a masterclass in collective intelligence – where the most profound insights emerged not just from what was said, but from the spaces between conversations. These are my observations that punctured my professional pretensions: #Humility is the most sophisticated form of intelligence #True innovation happens in collaboration's slipstream #Strategic thinking is less about having answers, more about asking better questions The Quiet Power of 'We' SeaBot Maritime might be a modest enterprise, but #WeAreInThisTogether, and together UK SMEs must stand. The Atlantic Future Forum - AFF reinforced a fundamental truth: transformative solutions are rarely the product of individual genius. They emerge from the messy, beautiful process of collective endeavour. To my fellow SME leaders, a gentle provocation: Our individual capabilities are noteworthy, but our collective potential? That's where the real magic resides. As Lance Corporal Jones might say, "We're in it now" – and isn't that precisely where innovation thrives? #SMEInnovation #CollaborativeSolutions #StrategicResilience

As an island nation, the UK's prosperity, security, and identity are inextricably linked to the maritime domain. This timely publication addresses the critical challenges and opportunities facing Britain's maritime future, making it essential reading for anyone interested in our nation's strategic direction. SeaBot Maritime CEO, Gordon Meadow CMarTech FIMarEST contributed a significant chapter on "Human Technology Partnerships: Implementing Advanced Automation in Naval and Commercial Maritime Operations," exploring how emerging technologies will shape Britain's maritime capabilities and competitiveness. Gordon also stresses that the key to successful implementation of these technologies is in creating a new synergy between human expertise and technology. The launch event featured an engaging panel of chapter contributors, all brought together by Andy Young from the Royal Navy Strategic Studies Centre, who hosted an insightful session. Straight from London, Gordon is now in Brussels, Belgium for another significant event - the first MASS North Sea MoU Symposium on Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs).
