About us

At Selwood Housing, we provide local, affordable homes. We own and manage over 7,000 homes for rent and shared ownership in the south west and are growing. Our ambition is to build 1,700 more affordable homes by 2034, to help tackle the housing crisis. As a charity, our surplus is reinvested into new homes, our existing properties and into our communities. We have been a vital part of our communities for over 30 years and know the difference a stable home can make. Affordable, safe, secure homes give people a foundation on which to build their lives. The range of homes we provide, from rented to shared ownership, sheltered accommodation and care homes means we help many local people. We believe that being truly local makes us different. Our team is made up of 300 local people who really get to know our customers and are passionate about helping them. By listening to what our customers say, we are continually improving our services. Put simply, we are here to play our part in solving the UK's housing crisis, as a long-term partner and investor in our communities.

  • We’ve recently signed appointed City Plumbing as one of three suppliers for building materials. City Plumbing have shown themselves to be both reliable and agile and this new contract will allow us to implement more efficient systems and processes, monitor performance and ultimately offer value for money to our customers. "The Social Housing Regulation Act has set clear response times for hazards – and for emergency repairs like boilers in particular – meaning housing providers like Selwood Housing need a trusted supply chain partner that can provide what they and their residents need when they need it. To this end, mobilisation and stock management formed a huge part of this contract, and we're proud to have an industry-leading infrastructure that can make this a reality. These logistics, combined with our team's extensive sector experience and absolute prioritisation of residents, make us the perfect partner for Selwood Housing." - Richard Adams, Sales Director at Integrated Solutions at City Plumbing. #SocialHousing #Somerset #Wiltshire

  • “I had a repair carried out today which quite a few operatives attended, whilst they were all lovely, James was amazing. Not only was he polite, friendly and explained everything that was happening, he identified other repairs and arranged for them to be inspected/carried out ASAP. I was having one job carried out today which ended up being two, followed by another tomorrow and more to be booked in! James is an asset to Selwood and did a fantastic job today.” #HappyCustomer #SocialHousing #SelwoodHousing

  • Receiving positive feedback like this is extremely rewarding for the team. Well done to everyone involved. “Just wanted to give feedback on my experience with Selwood to date. Natalie Evans has been exceptional through this what would normally be very stressful time of moving. The offer, to viewing, then acceptance and admin and process, has been made simple and effortless and the property cared for and updated for new tenancy so well done. As a neurodivergent person it could have been overwhelming, but Natalie and admin have made it a pleasure. The Selwood housing website is so informative and helpful and laid out simply and I feel safe and secure for the first time in a long time. My daughter and I are so incredibly grateful for our home and we can’t say enough about my positive experience with you guys so far! So thank you!” #Testimonial #SocialHousing

  • With the festive season approaching, it’s important to stay vigilant against scams that target people during this busy time of year. Scammers often take advantage of the Christmas rush, so here are some tips to help protect yourself: 1. Be Cautious with Unexpected Contact - Be wary of unexpected phone calls, emails, or text messages claiming to be from your bank, delivery companies, or utility providers. Genuine organisations will never pressure you into making a decision or sharing personal information. 2. Don’t Click on Links or Attachments - If you receive an email or text with a link, don’t click it unless you’re sure it’s legitimate. Scammers often use links to direct you to fake websites that steal your information. 3. Check Before You Pay - If you’re paying for goods or services online, only use trusted websites. Look for the padlock symbol in the address bar and make sure the web address starts with ‘https’. 4. Verify the Source - If someone asks you for money, personal information, or bank details, double-check by contacting the organisation directly using a phone number or email address you’ve sourced independently. 5. Watch for Pressure Tactics - Scammers often create a sense of urgency to pressure you into acting quickly. Take your time to think and verify any requests for payment or personal information. 6. Be Careful with Charity Donations - If you’re donating to charity, ensure the organisation is legitimate. You can check their registration details on the Charity Commission website: https://lnkd.in/dqYTAuP 7. Use Strong Passwords - Secure your online accounts with unique passwords and consider using two-factor authentication for extra security. 8. Talk to Someone You Trust - If you’re unsure about a message, call, or offer, talk it through with a friend or family member before responding. If you think you’ve been scammed or suspect fraudulent activity, report it to Action Fraud: https://lnkd.in/e9shSs83 or call 0300 123 2040. Help others stay safe this Christmas by sharing this message and encouraging people to think before they act. Remember, it’s always better to be cautious than to fall victim to a scam. #BeScamAware #ScamAlert

  • Everyone has a role to play in safeguarding. As a business, raising awareness of safeguarding in all its forms is important. Recently, our neighbourhood’s team refreshed their safeguarding training as part of #SafeguardingAdultsWeek, which will be followed up with an in-person workshop in the New Year. The most important thing to remember after Safeguarding Adults week is if you see or hear something that worries you, ‘trust your gut’ and report it for further investigation.
