36 years ago today, officers from Merseyside Police established Merseyside Police Credit Union as a better way for their colleagues to save and borrow 🚓 In 2003, the credit union merged with six others to establish who we are today at Serve and Protect - serving over 50,000 members who serve and protect the nation. It was a very special evening on Wednesday at the Police Remembrance Trust's US Embassy Reception, to commemorate over 5,000 fallen officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. The event is held at the US Embassy in recognition of the US secret service agent who died while working on the presedential protection detail in Scotland in 2018, and the unity in recognising fallen officers across the world. At the event we were recognised with an award as thanks for our committment and support for National Police Memorial Day. This support is funded by our members' participation in our Lottery, operated by the charitable arm of the credit union, Friends of Serve and Protect. We are proud to support important events such as this, recognising the challenges and sacrifices our members make every day to serve and protect us all. #ThinBlueLine #PoliceFamily
