🤝 What an incredible experience yesterday was bringing our incubator companies together in person from across the UK and the globe! Seeing the power of connection firsthand—linking the Veterinary Health Innovation Engine and SETsquared Surrey ecosystems for the SETsquared Surrey Breakfast Club—was a testament to the impact of collaboration. We enjoyed introductions from 2 of our cohort to the rest of the SETsquared group: 🤖 AITEM Artificial Intelligence Technologies Multipurpose: AI for veterinary diagnostic support 🦠 Vidiia Ltd: Assay Acceleration: Partnering with leading universities to accelerate assay development into real-world impact. In the afternoon, we had the privilege of learning from Agnes Delauche, who delivered a fantastic workshop on Segmentation, Positioning, and Targeting 🎯. Great start to the year at SETsquared Surrey!☕ Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming our incubator members and mentors to the first SETsquared Surrey Breakfast Club of 2025. It was fantastic to see so many brilliant minds come together, sharing innovative ideas and making valuable connections over coffee and pastries. January’s event focused on Animal Health in conjunction with vHive (the University of Surrey's Veterinary Health Innovation Engine). It was a delight to hear an intro from Alessandra Chianale of AITEM and an update from Charles Worsley of VIDIIA, followed by an intro from M Ross Manning (Technology Transfer Manager at University of Surrey). We then had the pleasure of hearing all about the vast and impressive experience of Felicia Cheung during our Mentor Spotlight segment, before saying an emotional goodbye to Christopher Pett, who has been the Enterprise Expert here at SETsquared Surrey for the past 6 years. Huge thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to the discussions – your enthusiasm and expertise continue to make this community so special. Throughout January 2025, we have had the privilege of welcoming an incredible group of mentors to our start-up incubator as part of our new Mentors in Residence programme. We have been welcoming a different SETsquared Surrey mentor to the office every week to encourage valuable and innovative interactions between mentors and the companies at the incubator. The mentors' expertise, insights, and willingness to share real-world experiences are invaluable to the companies navigating the challenges of early-stage growth. For start-ups, having access to mentors who’ve “been there, done that” can be a game-changer. It’s about more than just advice – it’s about perspective, accountability, and the confidence that comes from knowing someone has your back. From refining business models to scaling strategies, these conversations are the fuel that keeps innovation moving forward.
