Happy New Year! Hope you all had a good rest and didn't find the festive period too challenging. Before Christmas, staff and supporters of Sheffield Mind Ltd took on the challenge of collectively walking the (virtual) distance between Sheffield Yorkshire and Sheffield Alabama, with the aim of raising some much-needed funds to support the work that we do. We finished on Christmas eve, but we're still in the process of gathering up all the miles - that is, we're still waiting to hear back from people who pledged to walk, cycle, run, dance their way to the grand total. We'll make the big announcement on Monday 13th Jan, so you've still got time to get in touch and register your miles - and you've still got time to make a financial donation as well. https://lnkd.in/eJd9E2ha
Sheffield Mind Ltd
Mental Health Care
Providing mental health care and support to people in Sheffield.
About us
Sheffield Mind Ltd has been providing mental health care and support to people in the city for over 40 years. We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect. We want to see parity of care for people with mental and physical illness and to de-stigmatise mental health conditions so people are not discriminated against. Our mission is to intervene early to improve wellbeing and provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. We work locally with our partners to improve services and increase awareness and accessibility. We are a creative and forward thinking organisation and we have been working hard to reach people in communities which have traditionally failed to engage with services, but in which there are higher than average incidences of mental ill health. We have built new and exciting partnerships so we can promote greater awareness and understanding of mental health to different sectors and we look forward to developing these relationships and to working in shared projects and initiatives.

For some people, Christmas can be a really difficult time. For example, if you’re feeling #lonely or #isolated and all the ads on the telly are showing perfect families enjoying perfect festive gatherings. Even if you’re going to be with family or friends, there’s a lot of pressure to spend too much, or try too hard to make it ’perfect’ – stress levels can rise and then there are the family rows… One of our counsellors, Diana, will be on BBC News Radio Sheffield at 10.10am on Monday 22nd, talking about the challenges of Christmas and offering simple ideas for alleviating some of the pressure. And you can also go to our website, for tips on how to create your very own stress-free Christmas. So, whatever you’re planning this Christmas, take care of yourselves and try to get a little ‘me-time’. https://lnkd.in/d9gFMkvm
Wishing you a stress-free Christmas!

We are making headlines again - we are in danger of going viral!!! Thanks to Maddi Fearn and the team at #SheffieldWire for posting a story about our #Christmas fundraising challenge to walk from #Sheffield #SouthYorkshire to - #Sheffield #Alabama to raise a few pounds in support of the work we do in this here city - quite a few pounds as it happens, as we want to raise as many pounds as there are miles and there are 4200 of em!! If you were thinking of making a donation to charity this #Christmas maybe opting to spend the money that you might otherwise have spent on cards on a deserving local cause, why not help us towards our target - a bit extra moneywise might be just the motivation we need to get those last few - hundred - miles in!! #charity #charityfundraiser #forbettermentalhealth #supportus #walkforwellbeing #fundraisingfriday https://lnkd.in/eX_pA-AM

We take recruitment seriously! Thank you to our Peer Support Coordinator, Danielle Tindall De Carolis, who delivered some fab training to our line managers today, on the importance of good recruitment. The big takeaway? If you put the work in to develop a strong recruitment process, with a properly thought-out job description and an interview that wants to get the best out of every candidate, you’ll find the skilled employee you’re looking for, to fill the role. Here at Sheffield Mind we’re living proof – we recruited the wonderful Danielle! (any many other amazing people!) Lydia Kent, Aimee Stancer, Jon Friend, Edyta Bancer - Dunham
