Providing expert care while helping children with life-limiting conditions and their families create magical memories.
About us
Shooting Star Children's Hospices cares for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families, in Surrey and London. Whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months or years, we are here to make every moment count. We support families from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care. Our bespoke support is free of charge to families and is available 365 days a year. Our care service includes short breaks at our two hospices (Shooting Star House in Hampton and Christopher’s in Guildford), support at home, day care, symptom management, end-of-life care, bereavement care and a comprehensive range of therapies and support groups for the whole family. It costs £8 million a year just to maintain our current level of care. Very little of that income comes from central government funding, so we rely on our supporters’ generosity to keep the service running. What’s more, we know there are many more families desperate for our vital support, so it’s crucial we raise more funds to provide more care.

After a year of strong campaigning and collaboration, we are delighted to hear the announcement today from Secretary of State, Rt. Hon Wes Streeting MP who has confirmed that Children’s Hospices in England will receive a share of £26 million in 2025/26 through extending the Children’s Hospice Grant. Additionally, we are also very pleased to see an additional £100 million in capital funding for children’s and adult hospices. We would like to thank our local MPs for supporting our campaign around the Children’s Hospice Grant. The work they have done that has contributed to making this a successful outcome. In the new year we will continue to make the case for longer-term funding support. https://loom.ly/eyBJNOY

A huge thank you to Burbeck Interiors who have transformed two of our counselling rooms at Shooting Star House🤩 We're so pleased to have these dedicated spaces for our families to access counselling and it means we can continue to offer specialist psychological support in a safe and peaceful environment.

Yesterday Graham, his wife, and daughter ran the RunThrough South London Ten in aid of Shooting Star - raising over £2,400 after setting an original goal of £350💪 Graham was diagnosed with cancer in 2023 and was sadly told it had spread after failed chemo and that he had 18 months average last September. A goal of his has always been to receive a medal, and his wife and daughter were there every step of the way. A huge well done Graham, what a fantastic achievement💙 #MedalMonday
