Why Dance? Andrew Cuerden kicks off his series of ‘Why Dance?’ with Psychotherpist and Flowmotion creator Julia Franks. Following her book ‘Dance for Life’ together they explore what’s behind our reasons for dancing, especially from a conscious movement perspective. Why men don’t dance, and what led Julia from Club DJ to sober, early evening, no touching, community, Flowmotions. If you love dance, movement and self exploration…you’ll enjoy this. Thanks Julia https://lnkd.in/dtQ69iUG

Well what a way to kick off the first Soulwalk for Men! Glorious sunshine and great bunch of guys. 😎 It’s always a mystery who will come on a Soulwalk but I believe those that show up are meant to show up. We discussed topics such as identity, success and soulfulness as well as shared tools for dealing with anxiety and falling asleep. As usual time flashed past and it was over. But there was clear demand for more! So watch this space for more for future dates. Thank you to those that came and to those that couldn’t make this one, we will see you soon! Thank you also to MenSpeak for sharing the event. Also…if you would like a Soulwalk in your community or organisation let us know. #community #menshealth #mentalhealth

To change things up. And because sometimes we need different spaces to relate and understand, Andrew Cuerden is hosting a Soulwalk for Men this Sunday 17th November. It’s the usual format of all of our Soulwalks, but with a new flavour. Men only. Let’s be clear. This is not about alienating women. This is because men can relate differently to men, and sometimes they talk differently in front of other men. This space will allow you to be you. To talk. Not to talk. To walk alongside others, or on your own, but together. A place to meditate, breathe, share. Ultimately we believe in harmony of all differences. We believe that we have to find our own internal harmony to be able to be in that for others. So gentlemen, dads, young men, boys, grandads, lads, fathers, partners. Come join Andrew from 11-1pm in Richmond. Details on the new booking system on our website.

When the time is right…. This weekend Andrew Cuerden and I (Carmen Rendell) drove to the Welsh borders to join Hugh Davies and his rather new local community. Hugh completed our Soulwalk Leaders Training last summer and we’ve been talking since about how and when we could kick-start his first Soulwalk. The intention was clear, but open. Try one, and see what the appetite is. It takes commitment to gather people. To put your neck out and do something new. Especially when you’re new to an area. But also when you’re doing something with ‘soul’ in it. It’s not known, and we don’t know who would say yes. As it happened, most people said yes. And out they came. Fell runners, journalists, mountain leaders, the local GP, new people to the area, older residents, English, Welsh and Polish. And that was just the 15 of us. A hand selected community who Hugh thought might enjoy the experience. We gathered by a pub, to be our returning spot, with lunch already ordered. It was a misty day. The kind that drops due drops on every oak leaf and spiders web. The brown ferns on the top of the hills glistened and listened to us as we walked in silence. We shared stories, ways to meditate, ways to find presence and grounding, and ways to find connection and belonging. All within 2.5 hours. We found deeper connection and presence to ourselves and each other. We stayed on for lunch, the ‘best-ever’ sticky toffee pudding warmed our bellies, and we chatted more about our lives and our inner natures. Murmurs began to explode from participants. The shared moments of stillness and coherent presence in the woods had rumbled some souls into a deeper understanding that this was good for their spirits. To gather, to walk… to Soulwalk. Now what?? How often, who leads, where and when exactly? We look forward to supporting Hugh and his Black Mountains / Mynydd Du community to get something regular up and running. Thank you Hugh. You’ve reminded us of the magic, in all communities, in our worlds, in bridging worlds, in humanity. Thanks also to John Tierney who drove over from Stroud, as we finally met following a number of open-hearted conversations on zoom! Another story, for another day…. Our next Soulwalk Leaders Course is on Friday 31st January 2025. #community #outdoors #walking

Thank you Kenny Mammarella-D'Cruz FRSA FACCPH for addressing the issue many couples face around the timing of starting or continuing to have a family. Great to see it highlighted and for your sensitive coverage.

My weekly Agony Uncle column came out today in the iPaper online https://lnkd.in/eJwk_hWT such a tender and important tension between so many couples and so important to discuss rather than drift along with - please pass it on...

Why you here? 💛 To connect with others. 💛 To be around kindness. 💛 To connect to nature. 💛 To find space for self. 💛 I don’t know. 💛 I’ve wanted to come for years. 💛 Oh my god, can’t believe I’ve just found Soulwalks. Thank you again Soulwalkers. We had many from around London and Europe. From France to Ukraine. From Tottenham to Croydon to Richmond itself. People from all walks of life to walk together. We had those who have walked with us for 5 years and those who’ve just found us. And even though we finished at 1pm we drank tea and sat in conversation until 3.30pm. A wonderful wonderful day. Thank you, as always for confirming the power of our human hearts ♥️ #humanconnection #community
